On Feb 7th the 11th Annual Interactive Achievement Awards took place. It's mostly a video game award show despite what the name could imply. It's been the first year where you have been able to stream the whole thing online. It's available to watch in parts on Gamespot here:

It starts off a little rough, well the whole thing is a little painfully awkward to watch in areas, but overall it's decent; but then again it's a little lengthy. _________________ The Gamer's Journal | Online Portfolio | Half-Life Library |

I looked at the winners list, and Call of Duty 4 won the most awards I believe. What I don't understand: there is awards for computer game of the year, as well as cellular... but nothing for each console by itself. I personally think each console should have an award category for completeness and fairness sake. _________________ http://strategywiki.org/wiki/Main_Page

I agree with you, even though there are less and less console-exclusive games these days some consoles (and mostly the Wii) have a lot of games that aren't released on other consoles. So just to be fair they should have categories for each console. _________________ .// Proud to be Lifeless for more then 4 years \\. |

The number of exclusive games has dropped over the years, but it's still a somewhat decent number. I don't know exact numbers, but I would imagine there's at least 20-30 for each current console and handheld. PSP might be less, as I don't think it gets a lot of support anymore. _________________ http://strategywiki.org/wiki/Main_Page

Well it's not a console specific type of award system because of the nature of the event. I believe the PC and cellular awards were in there because they see the most exclusive games. If you don't believe me just look at a list of reviews/previews from a website like gamespot or gamefaqs. _________________ The Gamer's Journal | Online Portfolio | Half-Life Library |

I know PC probably gets the most exclusive games, but I doubt cell phones get that many exclusives. In either case, there isn't much out of the ordinary for cell phones (as well as mobile devices) anyway.
All platforms should have awards, period. _________________ http://strategywiki.org/wiki/Main_Page

Well in the sense that I am talking about, every game for cell phones are exclusive. Sure, they may be called the same thing like "Skate." or "Call of Duty" or whatever, but they are essentially new games, new graphics, new engine, new gameplay, new code. Completely different from the original game, making them exclusive in their own right.
This division of awards isn't biased, it's just a smart thing to do. And it's not like they don't get their own awards; here is how they break it up:
Game of the Year
Action
Adventure
Cellular
Computer
Console
Downloadable
Family
Handheld
Massively Multiplayer
Racing
Role-Playing
Simulation
Sports
Strategy
There's plenty of chances for games of all platforms to win. The platforms with the most exclusives get their own catagories (Computer, Downloadable, Cellular) and to a lesser extent: Handheld (since there is only Nintendo DS and PSP). _________________ The Gamer's Journal | Online Portfolio | Half-Life Library |
