Had I been born on time, I would have been celebrating my Birthday on February 29th, however I was late arriving, so missed out! | Happy non-birthday! SE13, don't you think you are so special? So many Leap Years happen to you. If your birthday is on 29th of February, that would really be something big.
Any way, everyday is important. I am trying to make it a happy day. At least not a miserable day. |

Maybe it's a joke on Scotland. Like, if someone says something stupid you would make fun of them my imitating them. _________________

or.............maybe not!
The tradition was introduced by queen Margaret of Scotland in 1288. Although, not only on February 29th, but for the whole of the leap year. I like to think of her as the first women's rights activist! If a woman proposed to a man in a leap year, and he declined - he had to give the woman a kiss, a pound (in currency) and a pair of gloves. Later a silk gown was also added to the rejection package - maybe it cost less for the man to say yes? lol |
