I wanted to upload something today; so I tried, and it couldn't upload. I can't add new files or folders. Then I look at cpanel, and it reports -44.18 Megabytes of disk space available.
How did this happen? I know for a fact it wasn't something I directly did (like uploading a file too large), because I know from past experiences that it will only upload the file until there is no more space, then it stop.
So, perhaps it's some large 50mb mysql mumbo jumbo? Or a massive error log? I can't figure it out. Any ideas? _________________ Quate.net |

The backup-#.#.2006_12-##-18_cpanelusername.tar.gz file in your home directory is taking up 133MB of space.
You might want to delete it. _________________ * Knowledge Base * Wiki * Forum FAQs * |

Wow. I was looking in public_html for something... Guess I didn't find it. Thanks.
Does cpanel take awhile to update diskspace left? I've deleted the file via ftp.
EDIT: The file didn't seem to delete...? Because even though cpanel now reports no previous backups, and the file doesn't seem to exist via ftp, I can't upload anything. _________________ Quate.net |

use the filemanager in cpanel and once you load it up you should see:
| Quote: | .cpaddons
.cpanel-datastore
.htpasswds
.sqmaildata
.trash
etc
mail
public_ftp
public_html
tmp
www |
go into trash and delete what is ever in there and then goto tmp and delete any temp files that were created, but don't delete the folders since those usually contain the account stats.
if you upload anything in cpanel such as sql back up, it will be placed in that folder and is really not needed any longer if the back up fully restored. just takes up space. _________________ http://www.damnidunno.com | http://www.snapcite.com |

Well, it's fine now. I didn't do anything and just waited.
I'm used to when I deleted something, space comes back on hosting. I did delete it via ftp, and not via that cpanel filemanager...
Thanks. _________________ Quate.net |
