People from around the globe were shocked, I can still remember the day sitting in my room doing some homework on my slow dial up internet connection.. I heard a knock on the door and it was my mom telling me to turn on the TV. I did to see the first speculations of a plane crash, like anyone else I was in total shock when I saw it, I still can not forget watching the second plane hit, watching it live, the reporter was not aware of what had just happened. The falling bodies hitting the pavement, I can not forget that sound. I couldn't believe what I was seeing, the planes were hijacked, the buildings fell, and thousands of lives were lost. A very sad day and my thoughts are with the families and friends of the innocent people who died on that day, I know how hard it is to lose someone and I hope that they are finding ways to continue living...hard as it might be.
This thread is meant to be a place for remembrance. Please guys post your memories, thoughts, and feelings here.( No debates, arguments, flaming, etc) |

Well, I still remember that day, it happened around 3pm (local time). I didn't have the television or radio on so I had no idea about what happened.
I had to pick up my sister from school, so I went there about 4pm and I heard people talking about a plane that flew into the twin towers. When I got back home I immideatly turned on the television, and the whole afternoon and evening almost all channels interrupred their programs for continiuos news.
It was such a shock that things like that could really happen, and actually I'm still kinda shocked by that fact.
A lot of people died there because of some terrorists, and that is something we should never forget. _________________ My new site

I think everyones remembers where they were on sept 11, it is just one of those you don't forget.
ie. i was in gym class when the teacher told us that some planes had hit a building in New York, i had no clue how big or serious it was until i got home and saw it all over the news.
Just shocking |

Well, it happened when I was sleeping. Nothing too special about that. There was an article in my local newspaper that had obviously been printed before the second plane, and either tower collapsed, just saying that "dozens" were killed.
However, on the way to school (which was only a few minutes drive) I heard how serious it actually was. As people came into the classroom, everyone came in and asked if we'd heard about the planes flying into the towers. It was such huge news, even on the other side of the world.
My most vivid memory is of my history teacher later in the day saying "I feel we have to talk about this, because this is history happening right now." Then I remember going home and every channel on tv (we only have 5 in Australia) had live coverage of the event, which continued for a long time. Even the local newspaper was running afternoon editions, and did so for the next three days.
Yeah... |

I was in school when we heard about it. It was fairly early in the morning and the principal came into our classroom (we had a pretty small school) and told us about the attack. We watched the news channel for the rest of the day. It was all pretty surreal for us. _________________ Rashy! |

I was watching the late news - my wife was asleep (she was pregnant with our first daughter) - I saw the second plane hit live on TV - I remember thinking "that helicoper looks really big" - there were a bunch flying around, and from the angle the TV was getting it, it did not streak across the screen, rather towards it, so it just looked like a black dot getting bigger, then boom.
I saw an interviewer with the newscaster who was covering that shot, and she said she honestly thought she was showing the start of world war 3 - to her credit, she kept it together and was very professional.
The only other shocking event that I remember exactly where I was the death of Diana. _________________ For Metal and Rock interviews and reviews, go to www.heavymetalnation.com - You can Contribute too if you want!

9th grade. I first heard the news at around 7am-ish while I was getting ready to head to school.
I get to my first class and the television is already on with the news. We just watch what happens. Second, third, fourth period we watch, I can't remember what class I was in when the second plane hit. I was pretty sure it was my first class. But after four hours the principal comes over the intercom saying to shut off the news and that they will announce if there are any further developments. At that time it had already been a while since the planes hit and both buildings had fallen.
I was in my civics class so as someone said above, it's history happening, this class is all about this, we're watching.
Princess Diana, yeah I remember that. Late at night and my mom is glued to the television. I was too young than to really know who Diana was or why what was happening was significant. I don't really remember any other news event where I remember what I was doing. _________________ [img:bd4240ba2d]http://gethalo3gear.com/signature/images/halo_signature_1.jpg[/img:bd4240ba2d] |

Actually, the other one i definately remember is challenger exploding.
I was in 3rd grade of primary school, it was real early in the morning here in oz - My mom got me up so we could watch the launch, then it turned into what, at the time, i thought looked like a snail - a huge puff of smoke with two eye sockets shooting out from it.
I think those are the three most "memorable" tragedies in my life where I can still remember where i was - challenger because i was so young, and it was the first space disaster in my life time, Diana dying, because that was very unexpected, and 911, for obvious reasons.
Of all the other huge tragedies that have occured during my life time, those are the only ones at the moment where I can remember exactly where i was. _________________ For Metal and Rock interviews and reviews, go to www.heavymetalnation.com - You can Contribute too if you want!

| I recall that I was watching CNN when 9/11 happens, and I didn't quite believe what I really heard and see over the news at that point of time. |

9/11 is actually my brother's birthday, but that's beside the point...
I remember that day, I was still doing my time in the army back then. I walked into the cafeteria and seen the plane crash on TV. At first I thought it was a regular movie, I mean, a freaking plane crash? Then I thought it was local, 'cause terrorist attacks are not a much of a rarity where I live.
I only understood later the full extent of what happened that day. _________________ Tarakana NET |

I'm head of the newspaper at my school & on 9/11 (this year) I had to write an article about it & I asked my journalism teacher who do I interview that was affected by it? And she tells me one of the teachers Mrs. T was a flight attendant, so I went to her room & interviewed her. So she tells me that, on the week of 9/11 was her first week & that she was excited. Her flights were always from Miami to New York, sense she lived in New York & her parents lived in Miami. Anyways she goes on the plane & it is about 7:00am & she tends to the guests. About 8:30 she sees the other flight attendants & captain tearing up so she asks what happened & they tell her that a plane crashed into the twin towers & they tell her the flight & she falls to the floor crying because her best friend that was a flight attendant was on that flight. After that he tells her that they have to deviate. So they land in Washignton & she emidiately calls her parents to tell them shes alright but while they are talking to her she remembers her husband works right next to the building in the twin towers so she panicks & tries calling him.... He doesn't answer she tells her parents to try everything & get in touch with him. She is watching the tv with her parents on the line when she sees the second plane crash... she continues to cry & her parents, brother, sister, & herself started to pray that her family & friend would be alright. Thank god that minutes later her husband calls to tell her shes alright. After she tells me that she wouldn't stop crying, but she tells me I have all the magazines of 9/11 & she tells me would I like to see them & I say yes. I see them & I ask her if theres was anything suspicious she saw days before & she thinks & says yes. I ask her what? She tells me she saw a man who looked like he was muslim, but not only that that he was nervous & demanding. She tells her captian she is not going on the flight because she had a gut feeling about that guy & that something bad was going to happen. They check his passport it was fake they arrest him & the next day they find out that man was part of the wanted terroist list. She was a little scared but she got over it. That goes to show you that there can always be signs before something happens. _________________ freakazoid layouts |

freakazoidx3, it's a really nice story actually, though I think it might be easier to read if you'd used line breaks/paragraphs in your story. _________________ My new site
