Trying to get more into this as a fulll time hobby. Any tips?......

I especially like the first and second one... why ? because they make me think and that´s something important in the pictures...

Where are all those doors leading to ?

Where´s that track going to ? does it have an end ?

Instead, the last two ones are more superficial, two persons in the frontdoor of a bussiness and a kind of church... that´s meaningless...

In your gallery there are other good works but also other meaningless pictures like the train´s one...

Anyway, the pictures that have the requirements I told you are really cool...

I suggest you to open an account in DeviantArt... it´s something elemental for every photographer/designer/painter, etc. www.DeviantArt.com. And if you have time check my account: raymon.deviantart.com, but have in consideration that there are a lot of works that don´t make you think, but they where made before I learned that trick Very Happy

Some pictures should make you think, and some should just let you admire them. That's the case of the last one. I really like it. One small tip, it's better to never take artistic photographs with the date printed on... Wink

I'll do this critique on a photo to photo basis.

The first photograph I will probably judge the most critical, since it's black and white. And people who choose black and white photos usually have a reason to, but some people just convert it to grey scale and they think that it looks alright. But you have to consider the contrast in the photograph. When I look at this photograph, you are missing some contrast. Although there is base black and nice white highlights, it's still on the warm side (as in lots of greyish tones making the photo look faded). The composition of the photograph is pretty good though, just need a little more contrast.

The second photo has some really nice qualities, like the tonal range (or lack thereof). The only problems I have with it is that the sun glare is a little weak, and kind of takes away from the photograph instead of strengthening the composition. There is also the time/date tag, YUCK Silly

The third one is probably my favorite. There is a great sense of colors and vibrant highlights in a picture that is very dark in many ways. I'm not sure if this photo would look good if blown up though. I think it would lose a lot of what is working.

The last one almost looks like a little bit of photoshop editing. Just because it has mixed contrasts on the bricks. But it may because of the sky light contrasted against the light-absorbant bricks on the building. The colors in this photograph are kind of obscure, but I think it generally looks nice, as a kind of softer-blending image.

I also like the first 2 pictures, due to their composition. There others seem a little ordinary to me. Perhaps its the angle of the first two that catch my eye, and makes it look through the whole picture, unlike the others which make me look at the whole thing in general, very quickly, and move on immediately.

Thank you all for the feedback. I do take it all on board as i'm always looking to improve my photography skills. I'll definately look into the matter of contrast with was raised by a couple of you, I do feel you're right about this issue in particular.

I like the second one, personally, because it remembers me a trip in train that I did 2 years ago with my wife… in that trip was when we had our first son, that´s why the second photo is the one I like the most, mainly by all the good memories that bring to me. That is what I like of the photography, congratulations “pjthefarmer”!!!

From what I can tell, you really like one-point perspective, huh? I'm a big fan of it too, but sometimes variation ain't such a bad thing.

Another thing, angle doesn't necessarily make a a good picture. Tilting your camera can cause more headache than actually producing a good photograph. Keep that in mind next time to prevent head-tilting.

The temple bar picture with the cobblestone street definitely has potential. I can definitely see something with that scene. Especially with that single streetlight on a dark night. Although, I admit I'm terribly obsessed with cobblestones, especially when I'm driving over a sobblestone street. Fun!

I like #3 and #4 the most. I think that does it. I have no critics to tell for these two. But for the others:

#1: If you look carefully it seems that the door wasn't taken perfect vertically.

#2: The date in the corner is out of place. The rails came up dark because of sun. In case you use automatic mode for your photos I advice you to use the manual mode.
