In alphabetical order:

Burnout Paradise: The latest in the series, features a whole new design. The old system was scrapped, and replaced with a whole new one. Races are no longer so linear, and have various ways to complete them.

*Already out, it's only for PlayStation 3 and Xbox 360.

Endless Ocean: In this sandbox style game, you explore the ocean. There is many a lot of sea life to see and collect in the game.

In my view, this game should've been released later. This is a great concept and deserves attention. It might do alright in sales, but Brawl is coming out only a few weeks later.. which will make many casual gamers ignore it (as it's not a major title they recognize).

*This game is out everywhere, and is only $30 in North America (I don't know the price conversions for other countries). For the Wii only.

Mario Kart: The newest Mario Kart game will be a return to it's roots: one character per car. Classic items, as well as new items will be in the game. There is online play in the game, with up to 12 people in a race.

*As of now: it's coming in quarter 1 for Australia, Europe and Japan, then in April to North America. For the Wii only.

Super Smash Brothers Brawl: The essential Wii game that is the newest game in the Smash Brothers series. Nintendo characters (along with other companies for the first time) are featured in this fighting game. Mario, Link, Sonic, Snake, Samus and Wario are just some of the characters in the game.

It's the first Smash game to feature online play. People have whined endlessly about how online is bad, but frankly they are just too picky. Be happy with what you have, instead of assuming every game must have awesome online play.

*It's already out for Japan. It's coming to North America on March 9, sometime in quarter 2 for Europe, and sometime in 2008 for Australia (no month confirmed yet). For the Wii only.

Too Human: A game that's been in development since 1999, and been moved to various systems over the years will finally come out this year. In the game, you play as Baldur (a norse god), as he battles humans and their machines. It's an action RPG game that features online play.

*It's coming in the spring for Xbox 360 only.

I'll post more later on.

Maybe try posting links to articles on the game (like IGN)

Considering the fact that all of us here have a computer, I will focus mainly on PC Games. I will also post mainly FPS / TPS games. If you would like to know about any genre or specific game, I can try to dig up some info for you!

Tomb Raider Underworld
http://pc.ign.com/articles/848/848779p1.html
Quote:
She's been a Legend, inspired Chronicles and had world-spanning Adventures. She just recently celebrated her Anniversary, revisiting old stomping grounds. She's even leapt from consoles to PCs, handhelds to mobile phones and taken...

First impressions lead me to believe that this will be a rather realistic game. According to the article, your actions in game will effect the story. I would look into it if you are a Laura Croft fan.

Just Cause 2
Quote:
Remember Just Cause? We loved its focus on hi-octane, adrenaline-fuelled, over-the-top antics. In a sea of same-old shooters, Eidos's free-roaming stunt-'em-up was a breath of fresh air, five thousand feet up or speeding across the waters of tropical paradise San Esperito. In terms of structure though, its uninspired roster of repetitive side-missions and an all-too-brief story mode left a sour taste for those hankering for something more than an enormous boys-own playground.

Sounds like the first was a big disappointment. According to the article, there will be vast improvements to enemy AI, stunts, weapons, and vehicles.

Tiberium
http://pc.ign.com/articles/848/848189p1.html
Quote:
It's a first-person shooter in a sci-fi world with squad mechanics built on the Unreal Engine 3. If that basic description sounds run of the mill to you, we wouldn't be surprised. That seems to describe any number of upcoming or recently released games. However, you might want to take a deeper look before you write off Tiberium as another standard shooter. A little over a year from now, EA LA will bring the Command & Conquer series into the first-person once again, bringing with it the full force of the C&C story and mythology...

This looks like a REALLY cool game. Basically Command and Conquer 3: Tiberium Wars from an FPS prospective. Should be loved by both RTS and FPS fans.

Well, thats it for today. If anybody like this, I will continue writing. Enjoy!

Right now I'm pretty much only looking forward to Brawl. The Wii is the only next-gen console I've got right now, plus there are still like fifteen or so games I want to get for ps2-gamecube generation.

There are some games I'm looking forward to in 2008 and I can't believe those are being ignored in the posts above Very Happy

First of all: Starcraft 2: nearly everyone that ever plays games on his pc should have played Starcraft, if you haven't run out to the store and for 5€ you can pick it up. This is probably the best RTS ever made and the sequel is coming in 2008.

and second: Spore: the creator of the Sims is making this totally new concept. I don't know what to expect but it all sounds great and I want to play it Smile .

I am aswell looking forward to Spore! So desperate for it! Oh! As for the Starcraft games, I am not that much into them. I don't like how its gameplay is. Hpwever I love the Warcraft (not World of Warcraft) and Command and Conquer Games! Big C&C fan right here. :]

Spore
http://pc.ign.com/objects/735/735340.html
Quote:
From the very tiniest forms of life to the intergalactic level of existence, you are in control of life itself in this simulation game by Will Wright. Beginning in the primordial ooze, players create a character from DNA that will grow, survive, and mate as it evolves from a single-celled organism to a fully-formed member of an establishing species. As more and more creatures inhabit the world, and as evolution forms the future, your species will join herds, clans, even civilizations. The more advanced the creatures of the planet grow, the more complex the strife of survival becomes. And while the player can continue gameplay in Spore at any level -- playing as a cell, as a wild creature, or as a civilized and organized society – players can also step even further out and play the game from the planetary or interstellar level, while also going online to connect worlds with other gamers.

I am not a Sims fan, but this game looks really cool! You will be able to control your organism's path of evolution. Cant wait for the demo! Check out some vids:

To be honest, I thought Spore already came out. Confused

I'd heard some big things about it a long while back, but nothing since then, so I naturally figured that the game came out and it didn't live up to the expectations.

I didn't know Spore was coming in 2008. I'll believe it when it happens though. I wouldn't be surprised if they delay it. The game looks great, so it's well worth the wait.

Also coming this year:

Lost: Via Domus: Loosely based on the television show Lost, you play as a new character Elliot. It looks decent, however... it apparently follows only season one and two of the show. It's an action adventure title coming for PC, PlayStation 3 and Xbox 360 on February 26.

Burnout Paradise wasn't that great, I played the demo and it isn't nearly as fun as the previous burnouts, which is a shame since the burnout series was the only racing games I found interesting.

Spore's release date is in April 2008. It is somewhere on their official website or something.

Ooh! I'm so tempted to buy a Wii for Super Smash Bros. Brawl.

I think if I can find one and have the cash on me (on me as in, in my bank account Wink), I will buy a Wii, then Super Mario Galaxy, then wait anxiously for SSBB to hit the store shelves!

Zelda (in SSBB) FOR THE WIN!!!

Oh sorry. People Please!
Look forward to the one, the only,
Peter Molyneaux produced:
Fable 2
This time around there's not to be any letdowns because of huge talk about what could have been. But most of all, you should look forward to loving the game on a deeper level.

Gears of War 2
Can it, will it? Come out in '08? Lots of peoples are betting that there will be an announcement at GDC in a couple short weeks! What do I want? I want them to copy the Halo 3 party system! And not half-way like Call of Duty 4 does! And forget 2 player co-op! 4 player co-op is the new minimum!

Ladies and Gentlemen, Good Evening,
You've seen that seeing is believing,
Your eyes and your ears will be bleeding,
please check to see if you're still breathing:
Metal Gear Solid 4: Guns of the Patriots
The ultimate in the PS3 gamer's list of 2008 games to tout in any gaming discussion. The saga's coming to an end, and taking it online, Metal Gear Online. Will Solid Snake have what it takes to outsell Master Chief, let alone a courageous plumber by the name of Mario? We'll see!

Hey wait... a new Mario Kart?

Stop trolling Vipralion. We already know you are clearly against Nintendo. You don't need to be disruptive in every topic that talks about games for the Nintendo Wii. Your behavior is childish at best.

Do you need attention that badly?

What the hell are you talking about Rob?

You are the Nintendo guy on these forums. There are plenty of PC guys here. So what? Are the merits of the PlayStation 3 and Xbox 360 to go unnoticed so that you are free to spout as much as you like about how Nintendo is king of consoles? No, because that is not true at all.

And honestly, you're the one being disruptive. Just look at the flow of the posts in this thread. Yours is first to disrupt that flow.

Rob, you simply don't understand the concept of an engaging discussion. Instead you resort to namecalling and insulting people for not thinking like you. Trolling? The only reason why my posts would be considered as such is because you take them to heart. I love my gaming consoles, my laptop -- they offer me so much, but to hell if I'll ever ignore the flaws of either console or of anything else I buy with my money.

I really, honestly want so much to play SSBB. I have been looking forward to it so much. The only thing that turned me off to the game is the method in which Nintendo decided to incorporate online play. BUT, with so much going for the game, just as there was for SSBM, I don't think I can hold out much longer. I want to get my hands on Mario Galaxy and experience some damn good platform gaming. And with the mention of a new Mario Kart coming... I'm gonna have to look into that.

And the Wii is cheap enough that it won't sidetrack me from building the PC rig I've been wanting to be build for so long now. I want to be ready for StarCraft 2 when it comes out. I must have it!! But I'll settle on Supreme Commander until StarCraft 2 comes out. It's by Blizzard, so it'll be awhile. Wink

Do you two not realise that both of you are shamelessly name calling and accusing each others of "fanboyism" and such things and then implying the other is the hypocrite! Good reading though, and Rob, don't take people who you only know of by an Internet handle too seriously Very Happy

Anyway, please keep adding games to the list, I want to find a new game as I'm stuck playing sequels, most of which are no good. NFS ProStreet has been enjoyable though, the first time I've said that about a game since Football Manager one or two years ago.

Spore caught my eye but it doesn't seem any good, I would have liked that effort go into a Simcity 5 and maybe steer the game around from the boring mess that the 3rd and 4th versions were.

Mafia II might be one to watch for, I liked the gameplay and setting of Mafia, different and well made with attention to detail.

Sometimes I wish there was an ignore user feature here. It would make posting and reading topics much better.

More sequels and ports coming out:

Bully: Scholarship Edition- This is an updated version of the PlayStation 2 game. Many have called this the "teenage version of Grand Theft Auto", which I don't agree with. Bully is a decent sandbox style game, but differs from the GTA series in many ways. In this updated port, there is now multiplayer, as well as new classes and more. This is coming out in March.

Destroy All Humans: Big Willy Unleashed- A lot of the same (if you've played the previous games). You play as an alien that lands on Earth, and causes problems. There is various weapons and mind control powers you can use. It's a sandbox style game, with a lot of free roam. Coming for the Wii and PSP in February 25.

There is also Destroy All Humans! Path of the Furon coming for PlayStation 3 and Xbox 360. The basic concept is the same for that game. Give the games a rent at least. I know with the original games, it was mixed reactions. You either loved them, or hated them. This is coming in March.

Okami- Originally on the PlayStation 2, this will be ported to the Wii in late March. From what I've read, there is little to no new additions to the game (except for the controls obviously). If you own it for PlayStation 2, don't buy it again for the Wii just for the controls.
