Can it just be renamed to the soccer forum? It seems like that's what almost everyone talks about. All other topics are usually ignored or not even posted in much. I find it very frustrating that the activity is low for anything that isn't soccer.
In my view, this would be a nice change, then perhaps the other sports would actually get some activity. Otherwise: just have a soccer board and leave it at that, seeing as how people don't seem to care about anything else much. It's very misleading to call it "Sports Stadium" when it's just one sport dominating the forum.

Wow, there are a lot of posts about soccer there. Personally, I don't think it should be renamed because that would exclude all of the other sports from the forum. And then it would be kinda pointless to make another forum for the rest of the sports because it would really lack activity since the other sports don't seem to be as popular here on LLP.

It's called Sports Stadium because it may include other sports than soccer. The fact that there is so much talk about soccer and no other sport is perhaps because many people here like to talk about soccer and don't care much about an other sport.
You can make a difference though, that's what a forum is for. Just start a thread about a sport you like to talk about and see who joins in. Maybe nobody joins in. Well, too bad, maybe try again another time...
Renaming the forum isn't going to solve the problem anyway.

Sigh, I knew before opening this topic that is was barely a "question/comment" as much another of your rants  I don't see where this "frustration" is coming from. You should know by now that there are not many active members here and the ones that are happen to like soccer. But nothing is stopping other sports from being discussed, all you need is 2 people interested. And it's not misleading, it's representative. Besides, futbol is the world game! |

There is a 38 page topic about WWE with 560 replies, so obviously there is more than just soccer in that forum.
Although, I guess WWE would be better suited under Hip Hideaway since it isn't really a sport, just people acting.

Sports stadium is there if people want to post about Sports, just because it contains mainly Soccer doesn't mean it should be renamed. If it was then a new forum would be needed. Then if you had another topic in there that there were a lot of posts for, would you then rename that forum, and create a new sports one
If it went that way, there'd be lots of separate forums

Techy Turf talking mostly about computers doesn't mean it has to be renamed to Computer Turf or Computer Forum too.
If it's renamed to Soccer Forum or Soccer Stadium, it will prevent people from discussing other sports.
There are still discussions about NBA occasionally.

Exactly, it just seems most people around here just aren't interested in other sports than soccer.

No. But I think what Rob1981 means, is that Sports stadium should be renamed to soccer stadium, and there should be a new sports stadium forum, so other sports will get some more attention.
My guess is that that won't really give much of an impulse, because I think the main reason soccer is the most discussed sport here is that most people just don't care about other sports.
That solution might be worth a try, but I just don't think it will have much of an effect.

In my opinion it won't have any effect. The "Soccer Stadium" would have all the posts, while the new "Sports Stadium" would have very few posts.
If people want more different sports in there they should create threads about other sports. The fact remains that soccer is the most popular sport around the world so it's quite normal that you have a lot of topics about soccer. I don't think that there is any other solution then try to discuss some other sports by creating new threads.

You have to realize what the demographics of this forum is.
To tell you the truth, most members here do not care about sports. I've learned this by talking to many of you off the board.
And the ones who do care about sports tend to be the Europeans. And guess what sport they like the best?
The North Americans here (Americans and Canadians) just don't like talking about sports. If they did, I'm sure football, hockey and basketball would be talked about a lot more.
I hate to say this, but, "We're computer nerds. Do you really expect us to know anything about sports?" |

I may be good in computers (at least better than most of my friends in terms of IT knowledge), but I am also good in sports.
Not discussing about it doesn't mean one doesn't play the sports. The thing is, hardly anyone discuss about basketball so I don't post about it.
Renaming the forum would be a bad idea, but making a sub-forum would be a better idea, and that may happen to majority of the forums when we upgrade to phpBB3.
