hi
I had a query regarding the following

consider the following scenario

Lets say, if a user, accumulates 5000 PBPP, and then requests for the hosting account that the user desires.
Now that the user has already got the hosting and is running his site, and the user does not make posts for a few months, in that case, can the user use HIS/HER VSP to pay for the monthly posts, until the VSP finish?

Knowledge Base

Though I'm sure it is explained somewhere in there, here is a brief overview:

VSP is not used for hosting but RDP (blue points) are, you can convert VSP to RDP. However, you will need a lot of VSP to convert if you are planning on not posting for a few months.

Moreover, it's impossible to collect over 1500PBPP or so, if I recall right. If you have 1500PBPP and continue posting, that PBPP will be lost, so to say.

Currently 5 VSP for 1 RDP. So you need 2000 VSP to exchange them to 400 RDP to get 1 month of Playing Hosting Plan.

It seems things can change soon though. Read carefully the following threads.

Has LLP been less active lately?
When will the hosting fee be collected?

Can't be bothered checking but I am sure that you do not lose it, I think the 1500 PBPP threshold is for forced conversion to VSP whether you have hosting or not.

I believe I remember hearing it as a forced conversion, too, but this brings up a question: Let's say it is forced conversion, does that mean right when someone hits the limit, then all of the PBPP is converted to VSP? So, if it's like the last day of the month, would they have just lost all of their PBPP and could potentially lose their hosting for being overactive?

I'm fairly sure everything over 1500 points is converted, so you keep the 1500 points while the excess is converted to VSP. I think that was a poor explanation so here is an example:
1800 VSP, you keep 1500, 300 is converted to VSP Smile

A very nice summary of everything:

If you do not have hosting:
When the monthly deduction/conversion takes place, the first 1500 PBPP is not deducted so that you can access the highest plan (1500 PBPP may be changed when the access PBPP for the highest plan is changed). The remaining (extra PBPP) are converted to VSP and RDP. 70% to VSP, and 30% to RDP.

Example
I have 1700 PBPP and no hosting. The monthly deduction/conversion takes place. After it has taken place, I still have 1500 PBPP, but 70% of the remaining 200 PBPP is converted to VSP, and 30% of the 200 PBPP is converted to RDP.

If you have hosting:
All PBPP that you have earned until the monthly deduction/conversion takes place will be converted. It will first be deducted, then whatever remains will be converted 70% to VSP, and 30% to RDP.

Example
I have 1700 PBPP. My hosting cost me 400 PBPP.

400 PBPP is deducted from 1700 PBPP.

1700 - 400 = 1300

What happens to the 1300?

70% of it goes to VSP.
30% of it goes to RDP.

Your PBPP will be 0.

That's really fine! But what if I don't have enough PBPP to pay?
That's where RDP (Rainy Day Points) comes in. As its name states, it's for rainy days. Supposing you do not have enough PBPP, whatever is in your RDP will be taken to pay for your hosting.

Example
I have 300 PBPP, but my hosting costs me 400 PBPP. I have 200 RDP.

When the monthly deduction/conversion takes place, 300 PBPP gets deducted, along with 100 RDP.

Now you are left with 100 RDP (the other 100 RDP was taken for your hosting). Your PBPP still becomes 0.

Since there's no remaining PBPP, nothing is converted to your VSP and RDP.

What if I don't have enough PBPP and even RDP?
The system only requires you to achieve at least half of the required amount. That is to say, if you need to pay 400 PBPP, you just have to achieve 200 PBPP so that your hosting account will not be suspended.

Example
I have 200 PBPP. I have 0 RDP. My hosting requires me to pay 400 PBPP.

The 200 PBPP is deducted, but since you have no RDP to deduct, your PBPP goes into negative.

After the monthly deduction/conversion, you are left with -200 PBPP (minus/negative 200).

What should I do?
Just post enough to get out of the negatives. Since you are not suspended, you will be fine. Just post for PBPP.

What if I can't even get half of the required PBPP?
You will enter the negatives, together with your hosting account suspended (your forum account will not be suspended though).

If you get suspended for two months in a row, your hosting account gets TERMINATED.

How do I convert to RDP?
You can only convert VSP (Virtual Shop Points) to RDP.

VSP is the only currency points that you can use to trade, donate to other users of the forum. You can also use this currency to buy things at the Bargain Boutique forum.

If you ever wish to use RDP, the ratio of converting is 5:1.

Which means, every 5 VSP converts to 1 RDP.

If you need 20 RDP, of course you need 80 VSP.

I guess the point system around here is quite complicated. You'll see it's not all that confusing though, when you figure it out. Read Jacky's post, it's quite a thorough explanation.

Well most just need you to post a certain amount of posts before letting you use their hosting plan, for this one, you have to post meaningful post if you are to earn any points thus getting a hosting plan..

I think this is meaningful.

I think this is meaningful.
And if you are not away on a vacation or busy, getting 400 PBPP (assuming you are on the lowest plan) is nothing.

You just have to achieve 200 PBPP to make sure your account is safe.

And you just have to achieve the other 200 PBPP so you don't enter negative.

And it's made easy since the forum is active every hour.

Well, technically a post doesn't really have to be "meaningful", but you'll probably get more PBPP from a "meaningful" post because it'll be longer than one that is not "meaningful".
