I guess you guys have heard of Asus Eee, Cloudbook and OLPC XOs. There is yet another new entry of ultra-portables, the HP's slick UMPC 2133 with VIA processors. According to sources, these ultra-machines will hit the market early next month and pricing is pretty attractive, there are few models: (1) $600 for a 1.2GHz C7-M, 120GB drive, 1GB of RAM and Vista Home Basic, (2) $749 for a 1.6GHz and Vista Business and adds Bluetooth, another gig of RAM, and a bigger battery. Regardless, the one that really catch my ppl eyes was the $549 model that shares the same specs as the $600 unit, but runs on a SuSE Enterprise OS. Check out details at http://www.ultramobilelife.com.....ninote.htm

Quite true, I thought the 7" screen would be the right size for a UMPC. But the idea of having hard drive is good, as this means we could store alot more stuff, on the contrary, it consumes more battery and it will be heavier. we would have to wait till the technology do the catching up, till we get a real huge SSD.

The most important specs in a umpc are no moving parts, battery life and size. Hard drives move and they use more battery life, huge flaws in a umpc design. You don't need huge internal drive space because you won't be keeping that many files on this device. Ok for some people windows based may be important but vista on that machine is a complete joke,
