Harsh, but hilarious all the same. I still fail to see how in anyway that Arsenal can be blamed in any way, shape or form, although I suppose if you were to be a fanatical supporter of Tattenham Hotspuds, you would view the entire incident somewhat differently.
One thing that puzzles me greatly, is that if all these players were unfit to start the game in the first place, and a delay or postponement was needed, then why did the manager of the said football club play all those supposedly unable to leave the toilet?
At the start of play, they occupied that all important fourth spot in The Premiership, and were in prime position to hold the spot, and qualify. My theory is tht, in fact there was little or nothing wrong with the players, give or take that feeling one gets before something major.... Shhhhhhtng yourself...You know the one.... Just cleverly worded on their behalf should something go wrong, which for them it did.
Either way, Arsenal can now go to Paris next Wednesday eveining, safe in the knowledge, that come what may, they will still be playing at this level next season, so some weight in pressure has been lifted from their shoulders, meaning that hopefully, they can go out and enjoy themselves without the added pressure of HAVING to win to qualify.

A few days down the line, and it would appear that, instead of Arsenal be held to balme in any way, shape or form, that in fact, a Tattenham player has some sort of tummy bug, and passed it on to all his team mates!! Oh, the irony!!
Meantime, only a couple of days until the greatest day (potentially) in the history of Arsenal Football Club..... All the players are taking some well earned rest, so no real news is available as yet, but given the media hype directed toward our young starlet, Theo Walcott, expect some surprises in the initial party named.......
Stade de Paris, May 17th, Arsenal Versus Barcelona......

I was talking to my cousin (An Inter Milan supporter I might add )just then about the Arsenal - Barca final. One thing he said really made me laugh:
| Cousin wrote: | | "well best team in the world vs the best forward in the world" |
When I read that, I was laughing my head off. Even though he's kinda taking a swipe at our beloved Arsenal, if you look at it though, there is some truth in that comment. You've got a Barcelona team full of world class players, against an Arsenal team with you have to admit, one world class striker in Thierry Henry. However, I'm not saying that the rest of the Arsenal team are not world class, but just that they're not there yet. We've got a magnificent young team yet to reach thier peak. And taking this into consideration, a magnificent young team lead by our world class striker/talisman/capitan, to reach the Champions League Final, beating R. Madrid, Juventus, and Villareal, I've got to say, we've got a really good chance of winning the cup as much as Barcelona do.
Like they say, anything can happen in football. So go ARSENAL!!!
I'll be up at 4:30am watching it live in Australia...

On the eve of possibly Arsenal's biggest match of the modern era, sphincters must be twitching and nerves must be jangling but do any of you Gooners fancy putting your reputations on the line and making public your predictions for tomorrow night?
I'm completely neutral and am looking forward to a great game of football but in my heart of hearts, I think Barca might nick it. I know it's not what I should be saying as an English supporter and I'll be rooting for Arsenal tomorrow night but I just have this little nagging doubt in the back of my mind that I can't shift. I've been known to be horribly horribly wrong on many an occasion in the past and I'd absolutely love it - LOVE IT - if I'm proved wrong tomorrow night in Paris.
Anyways, that's what I think; what about yous guys? _________________ [img:72f68c01cd]http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v225/YorkshireMag/newcastle_fc_fan.gif[/img:72f68c01cd] |

Today is the day. My previous plans to travel to either Paris without a ticket, or to Islington, London and watch with fellow Gunners, have been scuppered with three of my four children being unwell, along with my own better half, the dear lady wife I still cling on to the hope that we can win tonight, and that I can get down to the potential parade tomorrow, around the streets of Islington. North London, and to both Highbury, and our new ground, The Emirates Stadium, at Ashburton Grove.
A little over twelve hours to kick-off in the biggest game, surely EVER in the clubs history, and a little over twentyfour hours until potentially the worst ever hangover in my history!! If all goes well, then there will be reports and pictures to follow, and if all does not go well, expect much the same, with a more sour note!!
**EDIT** I have just been hearing that tickets from touts are trading at €5000 a time. The annoying thing is that Arsenal were allocated just over twentythousand tickets, but the corporates and sponsors were given nigh on fourtythousand. Crazy really, when those are the tickets being sold on the black market, and nearly all allocated to non-football fans. Well, I'd like to be the first to commiserate with Arsenal fans everywhere, after what was a thrilling game of football. Unfortunately, circumstances conspired to deny Arsenal the chance of European glory with two major blows.
Firstly, Jens Lehmann let the side down by being sent off barely 20 minutes into the game, focred Arsenal to completely re-think their strategy. I'm sure every Arsenal fan at that point would preferred to be 1-0 down with 11 men on the pitch.
Secondly - and worst of all - the referee was completely, totally and utterly biased towards Barcelona. He even issued a yellow card to Thierry Henry for being clattered and gave a free kick when another Arsenal player (probably Kolo Toure) made a perfectly good tackle and won the ball. The Barcelona equaliser shouldn't have been allowed to stand and I think that it would have been a totally different result if the referee had done his job properly. 1-0 to the Arsenal? I'm sure I've heard that before!
Arsenal played magnificently and I thought Toure and Cole played out of their skins. OK, nothing could be done about the sending off but I think that even with ten men they were the better side and deserved more from the game. Playing ten men against eleven is bad enough but ten men against twelve was a step too far. _________________ [img:72f68c01cd]http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v225/YorkshireMag/newcastle_fc_fan.gif[/img:72f68c01cd] |

I must agree that Lehman, really really let the team down. I would have prefered to see 1 - 0 Barcelona with 11 against 11. We might/or would have had a better chance of coming back, but yeh.
The defending was great by Arsenal, Toure and Cole definately preformed extreamly well. The ref sucked! I don't like bagging out refs but really, how bad were some if not all of his calls? Henry getting a yellow for getting the ball? While marquez and Puyol not gatting a single yellow or even a caution for all those barges into Henry?
Well done though for hanging in there though. Aprat from the Lehman "incident" it really made me proud to be an Arsenal supporter. The team worked well defensively and together as a team.
Edit: Yes! Henry is STAYING! |

According to one of the papers in England, Thierry Henry will be signing a new four year deal at some point today. The BBC are now running the story also, so I will be watching with interest for an official word from Arsenal.
As for The Final of The Champions League, I can barely put into words how gutted I am. But even playing the game for such a long time with only ten men, and leading until the last fifteen minutes, gives me a sense of enormous pride. We can come back stronger from this, and hopefully do it again next season. Of course there is still the small matter of actually surviving the qualification rounds. _________________ It feels so empty without a signature, so here is some mindless gabble to occupy the space |

For the Gunners fans, what is the belief behind Henry signing a new deal? As in, why do most people think he's put pen to paper. Id like to think its because they were so close on winning great things this season that he'd like to build on what they already have and help them out next season.
I really admire Henry and he's emmensely talented, when I watch him play he's just breath taking, and I hope he stays in England so I can watch him work his magic! _________________ iSheep. Everywhere. |

If the Gunners manage to hold onto Thierry Henry then that would be a huge boost and would inturn attract new players to the club of the highest quality
Champions League finalists, Playing in the CL next year (nearly defo), one of the top teams in the premiership
Its a nice club to join and to add to that they are just moving into their new bigger stadium and have one of the best players in the world ready to sign up for another 4 years
The future looks bright |

Isn't it a 4 year deal? Which is like what you said, for life. Will he get the one year deal thing older players get after his new deal runs out? Just wondering.
But hey! Great news! Very VERY happy that he's staying, which means only one thing. The club is going forward! |
