No surprise about this result. The official Worst Team In Premiership History looked beaten before they kicked a ball. Two more goals from Thierry and a lot of glum faces trudging back to wearside - smiles all round then!!! _________________ [img:72f68c01cd]http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v225/YorkshireMag/newcastle_fc_fan.gif[/img:72f68c01cd] |

To be fair, Magpie, Arsenal did not give Sunderland a hope of competing in this match!! The Black Cats were outplayed from kick-off up until the very final blow on the whistle, and only sloppy Arsenal defending allowed that goal to be converted.
Sunderland are beginning to look odds-on favourites for the dreaded drop down to The Championship, meanwhile Arsenal appear to be going from strength to strength, with more and more players coming back, and results really starting to go their way.
Coupled with Manchester United beating Chelsea over the weekend, things are starting to look exceptionally bright in The N5 area of London!! _________________ It feels so empty without a signature, so here is some mindless gabble to occupy the space |

Following on from my previous post, all The Arsenal players have returned with no extra injury scares. Rio Ferdinand got the nod in The England friendly, ahead of Sol Campbell, and Freddie Ljungberg did not travel to Sweden, and should be ready for the weekend approaching.
Alexander Hleb should be fit again in early December, with Ashley Cole returning to his left back slot at around the same time.
I am personally waiting for such time as the Ticket Office announces that the forthcoming Carling Cup tie against Reading goes on general sale, allowing me to travel down, and resume my place in The North Bank for probably the last time before the pending move to Ashburton Grove, or The Emirates Stadium as it is officially known.
Meanwhile, there has been some transfer speculation I agree Riquelme would add a certain something to the side, but I can't see it happening. Possibly a better chance with Torres, and apparently, although unconfirmed by Arsenal, Vela is a done deal!!... He stays in Spain until his 18th birthday, and then comes over to London.... _________________ It feels so empty without a signature, so here is some mindless gabble to occupy the space |

Tomorrows clash with Wigan could prove to be most interesting as the season pans out. Firtly, with Wigan Athletic seemingly conquering all, against the odds and flying high in second place, nothing can be taken for granted. Arsenal also report that Gael Clichy, who has been deputising for the injured Ashley Cole will be missing for upwards of six weeks with a broken toe, leaving a slight injury crisis at the back for The Gunners. With the notable absence of Alexander Hleb, said to be out for another three or so weeks, Arsenal manager, Arsene Wenger has a fairly strong squad from which to choose his starting eleven.
Interesting points to note, in the build up to this game, are firstly, the dip in form of current champions, and leaders, Chelski, who have been reported as needing to cut the wage bill by selling a few players. Another defeat for them, and it really is "Game-on" as far as the title race in concerned. Secondly, Manchester United and their captain, Roy Keane parted company today, allegedly be mutual consent, so things are not all roses in their camp ahead of the weekend.
Couple the two points of note as posted above together, and suddenly things could start to look interesting again, particularly should Arsenal pick up all three points, and Chelski fail to do so.....And what of Manchester United...Will they have the motivation required for the result at the weekend, or indeed for the remainder of the season?

| Althought Wigan are in great form, i reckon Arsenals gulf in class will prove vital and i reckon Arsenal will win but i do think it will be a very close match and will probably be won with a bit of magic from Henry or Reyes or one of arsenals flair players |

It took something of a fluke for Chelsea to beat Wigan Athletic, so I think you might be correct in that it might take a piece of Henry/Reyes or even Dennis Bergkamp magic to break down a resolute Wigan defence.
While I can see Arsenal winning the game, and further piling the pressure of those at the top, I can not forsee anything too pretty, and I guess frantic might come into it as well...
All will be revealed come 3pm this afternoon!!
*EDIT*
The game finally finished with the same score as the half time score!! 3-2 to Arsenal, and the first win away from Highbury this season....
When I get around to it, I will post some form of report on proceedings, but I am a touch tied up at the minute!! _________________ It feels so empty without a signature, so here is some mindless gabble to occupy the space |

I think i was right in my earlier post
Class did prevail in the end, just about but it did
Good luck to wigan for the rest of the season though, they already deserve to stay and i hope they do and it seems that they will
As for Arsenal if they can string a couple more wins together they look like they will have no problems getting that 2nd spot.
Also if Van Persie can keep scoring at the same rate as he is currently doing he will be an amazing player for arsenal in the coming years and who knows maybe they can start to produce in the Champions League and mount a challenge! |

| I've always rated RvP and he deserves a run in the side. But you can't fault his commitment, he said that even if he gets 5mins playing time in a game he can't complain - and he'd always try his best. Great commitment, great enthusiasm and great mentality - combined with great talent he is a fantastic player in the making. |

Yea and he is still young, what is he? about 22 or 23?
Amazing really, how much did you cost Arsenal?
At the very start of his career it looked like he wasnt going to cut it in the premiership and he has had his problems off the field but fair play to him, he has come through them and is a great player now! |

| Do you all think Robin Van Persie is coming to the forefront of the Premiership now? It's about time he should and from where i'm looking he looks every bit the premiership player! I love his style of play, almost Dennis Bergkamp esque. He seems to be technically spot on most of the time, rather than being overly tall, or overly fast..this type of player is a joy to watch when on the top of their game. What's his record of scoring at the moment? Something like 6 in 9 but i can't remember. |

Robin van Persie is still only 22 and he cost us £2.5m from Feyenoord. It was one of those transfers that was agreed in January 2004 but he didn't join until the end of the season in June 2004. Was always going to be a very useful player, when we bought him we knew he was a massive talent.
The rape thing was distressing but here is a genuiene quote from the accusing woman:
"To be honest, nothing at all happened - why he was charged I do not know."
Another gold digging mare! He's come through the problems though and indeed showed a massive strength of character. |

That record is about right. Its unfair to compare him to Dennis, Robin seems to have a much more agressive eye for goal, always looking for the shot. Thats the kind of mentality we've missed for a long time so its a relief to know that when he starts, we know we're going to get some number of shots on target!
He's very left footed but recently he's been working hard on his right and that's clear to see on the pitch. He's on good goalscoring form as you say and its vital he keeps a run in the side to keep up the run of form, the goals, and keep his confidence high. |

We've announced the squad for the FC Thun game in Switzerland tomorrow night:
Arsenal squad:
7. Robert PIRES
8. Freddie LJUNGBERG
9. Jose Antonio REYES
11. Robin VAN PERSIE
12. LAUREN
14. Thierry HENRY
15. Francesc FABREGAS
16. Mathieu FLAMINI
17. Alexandre SONG
18. Pascal CYGAN
20. Philippe SENDEROS
21. Mart POOM (GK)
23. Sol CAMPBELL
24. Manuel ALMUNIA (GK)
27. Emmanuel EBOUE
33. Nicklas BENDTNER
36. Johan DJOUROU
41. Arturo LUPOLI
Wenger has said that Song, Eboue, and Flamini should hopefully get starts. It'd also be good if in the second half players like Lupoli and Bendter came on to get some experience - I still rate them very highly. It should be a comfortable win tomorrow night I think. We only need 1pt to confirm our place as group winners. |

Just thinking about The Champions League game, Thierry will equal Dave Seamans appearance record in the competition!!
Nothing confirmed in stone about the starting eleven tonight, but Jens has not travelled, neither has Dennis, Kolo or Gilberto.
My predicted lineup:
Almunia
Eboue
Senderos
Campbell
Cygan
Ljungberg
Song
Flamini
Reyes
Van Persie
Henry
A draw tonight would guarentee top spot, but it's pretty much ours anyway, given the other fixtures still to come, including us playing Ajax at home.
I predict a win tonight! Come on boys! |
