Do you ever get cold sores? Or fever blisters, or whatever they call them at the time that you have one?
It sucks because i work in the public and deal with customers all day, and i just got over one on my bottom lip, and now i have an even larger one on my top lip on the opposite side. I've been putting creme on it all day trying to make it go away, but nothing is helping.
I seen some cold sore medicine in a store for $15, it says its supposed to make them go away in 3 or less days. I am starting to think that its worth getting it.
I usually don't get them that often, especially not right after eachother so its very odd.
Whats even more gross about them is that they are a sort of herpe, ha, so that sucks.
I know alot of people get them though.
how do you usually get yours to go away? or do you just deal with them for the 10 days or so? _________________ http://www.damnidunno.com |

I went on a date with this one girl. We didn't go on a second date, but remained friends. A few weeks later she had a huge cold sore on her upper lip. She was obviously a little embarrassed about having it, and the joke about me giving her it didn't come out as funny as I thought it would. I think she said it was also caused by a type of herpes (that thankfully isn't contagious).
I don't get cold sores, but it sounds like they act like pimples. All the medicine in the world never seems to work well enough. If you can easily spare the $15 then it sounds like you got nothing to lose trying out that other medicine _________________ Rashy! |

Cold sores will go away on their own. I assume that this medicine would last for more than two cold sores, so, if you plan on getting more mouth herpes (or getting cold sores is a frequent thing for you), then sure, go ahead and pick some up. Otherwise if you don't think you'll be getting any more, I'd just wait it out.
I've never had a cold sore before, so I don't really know if it's excruciating pain or anything of the like. _________________

My god, I wanted to know what's a 'cold sore', so I googled it for pictures, and there are some really gross images out there. Definitely get the medicine. _________________ Tarakana NET |

Eh, cold sores ARE caused by the herpes virus. And they most definitely are contagious through direct contact. Not by saying hello or hugging or anything, but oral contact with someone who has, at the time, a developed cold sore can ABSOLUTELY be a way to transfer the virus.
Just don't make out when she has one.
There are medicines to reduce the frequency and severity of outbreaks, I believe, and there are varying frequencies with which people experience outbreaks. I'm not entirely sure of the numbers, but I'm sure a little bit of quick research should be helpful if you're interested. |

I don't know why everyone wants to refer to it has herpes. its a form of it, but its not an STD or anything. I probably got one when i was little by a parent or someone kissing me on the cheek or even lip while they had one. 1 out of 5 people get them. Its nothing big.
I usually don't get cold sores/ fever blisters, but for some reason i got 2 this month, and i havent been kissing any girls either ha. for some reason they triggered.
I bought that medicine the other day. Usually cold sores last around 10 days. This one isnt even swollen anymore and seems to be fading which is good. i can still feel it tingling some though.
the medicine cost $17 and its just a little tiny bottle of it. about the size of a thumbnail. nothing big, ha, but i suppose it works.
i wonder if the cold can actually trigger cold sores. or why do they call them cold sores? You can get them if you have chapped lips and everything like that. Cold causes your lips to chap. which is what i have. I've been out in the cold alot lately at work and its snowing constantly here. The other day we had to dig alot of customers cars out of the 4 ft snow drifts, so maybe thats what caused them. Dunno really.
So far i havent found one article saying that cold sores are actually triggered by the cold, so i don't know. _________________ http://www.damnidunno.com |

people refer to it as herpes, because that's what it is! "form" of herpes or not, call a spade a spade!
i get them from time to time and have tried all the creams etc etc (Zovirax in the UK, and Abreva in the USA, which i suspect is the cream you're referring to Scar). Abreva seems to work better than Zovirax, but it's not licensed for sale in the UK.
BUT - leaving it alone, not touching it, not putting anything on it, not picking at it etc etc will make it come and go a lot faster usually. Using the cream runs the risk of spreading it along your lip if you're not careful.
And yeah, just don't kiss anyone when you've got one and you won't spread it - it's no biggie, like you said, many people suffer from them. |
