Electronics Arts has wasted little time in lifting the veil from off last week's rumor surrounding Tiberium, a new game set in the long-running Command & Conquer universe that will once again try to put a FPS spin on the series' RTS roots. With versions in development at EA Los Angeles for the Xbox 360, PlayStation 3, and PC, Tiberium's shoot-em-up style follows 2002's Command & Conquer: Renegade, a critical and commercial mess of a game that attempted to inject first and third-person elements into the series, while largely failing at both.

EA describes Tiberium's gameplay as a "blend of first-person shooting and tactical squad combat," allowing players to control multiple ground and air units in addition to the game's central character, Forward Battle Commander Ricardo Vega.

I'm stoked. C&C Renegade was a huge disappointment (granted, it was a decent game, but it was nothing like the developers hyped the game would be like). Best of all, this game is being developed in the mold of Ghost Recon as opposed to Battlefield 1942 (like Renegade), thus making it an actual strategic shooter as opposed to an all out FPS.

I played Renegade and the singleplayer campaign wasn't all that great. I did like the base-to-base multiplayer mode, though, it required quite a lot of strategy when fighting with good teams.
Anyway, I prefer tactical shooters. Renegade was more run-and-gun, overall. But I hope they will make a multiplayer mode in Tiberium that resembles that of Renegade (C&C style, with bases/buildings).

I enjoyed it as well. But agree a bit more strategic one person would be better. I would like to have a one base defender vs small tactical team attacker in MP. Sorta like your own Tiberium splinter cell team. LOL

I think I'm one of the few people that actually enjoyed the single-player of Renegade Smile . In my opinion Renegade had very decent gameplay and it had the feeling like you really were a commando in the fight between NOD and GDI Smile .

In my opinion it's too bad that they will make the new Command & Conquer shooter more like Ghost Recon, Command & Conquer is war so if they make any shooters in it it should be about war with hundreds of other units and not with small teams. That's just my opinion though, and don't get me wrong I do believe that this game could be great, I'm just hoping that you still get the feeling that you're fighting in a huge war.

I don't really have much faith in EA.
C&C Renegade was kinda lame actually. It seemed like soem cehap game that you'd get free with a box of cereal or something. The only thing that was cool or interesting about it was the feeling of actually being in the universe that you have been playing in for many years, from way up in the sky ha. So that was cool.

I would love to see them create some new awesome FPS that people will love. like a blend of SWAT 4 and America's army or something like that, but based in the triberian world. I love them type of games. So i should be into it.

But, then again I love command and conquer for a reason and its its default game play which i love, so just because i love CNC, doesn't mean i'll be attracted to this game as well. It'll be two different complete games, only think they'll have in common are the themes.

What'll be cool is if they mixed the two types of game plays together. There is a mod for half life 2 death match that is like that and its pretty cool.
