I've done some ground work towards consolidating the forum.

I feel that some categories may be split into multiple forums due to the way they are covered, but I think the current setup isn't too bad.

it's looking nice so far.

Is there much of a difference between:
Quote:
Web Architects' Abode
Help with building your own place on the web.

and
Quote:
Help Wanted
Need a website mentor? Need a co-webmaster? Ask for help here!

they seem to be for the same thing under the current descriptions which could cause some new members to be confused, well actually i'm a bit confused Silly

Maybe they could be merged, or one be for overall general help (tech, homework, girlfriend problems, etc), and the other for web site help.

I take it you've never looked in the help wanted ads for a position at a company. Wink

Help Wanted is more of a I'm looking for volunteers type forum. It was never intended as a general question and answer forum.

Oh! I understand what you are saying now. Makes alot more sense now. Alot of others must not understand either since its rarely ever used for that type of advertisement. I think i created some a while back though.

I was ausent from the forum for a few months (I was busy because of the university) and I'm comming back and I realised that images are not displayed in signatures. Is this issue related to the "Community arrangement"? What's going to happen? And what about phpBB3?

I like the forum setup Smile

martin:

The images not showing up anywhere except in avatars is a security related precaution, bit overboard but maybe Trel just doesn't have much faith in phpBB (understandably).

phpBB3 has been delayed due to higher priority tasks. See the last "State of the L2P":
http://lifelesspeople.com/foru.....hp?t=47738

As for the "help me please" / "help wanted" forum, maybe there should be another keyword added in to emphasise its intended purpose. "Help wanted" is closer but mainly due to association with the former name or just seeing it as an appropriate forum, people will continue using it for Q&A. I was thinking something like noticeboard or ads appended to the name.

The merger of the Web Architects' Abode and the Programming Discussion forum is a great idea, since both serve same purpose - help with creating a website.

One thing moderators and Trel should take note is that the rules about English Clarity has been doubled because of the merger. One of the two should be removed.

The Community Ads category should be placed right under the Community Discussions category, since both categories are for the community, as opposed for L2P.

The description for the Help Wanted forum doesn't really fits. It's more used by the community as a general help forum (but doesn't include L2P support).

I disagree. I always used the Programming Discussion board for non-website related programming. Now it doesn't seem readily apparent where someone should post regarding C or Java (assuming they aren't putting together a Java applet, just some program they wish to run on their computer) or any other programming language that doesn't build websites..

It was just an extra emphasis on having the best clarity possible.
