Lets say you were Director of Lifelesspeople.com for just one day.

What would you do to leave a good lasting mark to improve the service considering your limited time as Director?

I'm interested to see what everyone has to say. Smile

I would approve/disapprove all requests within my time as director. THAT would for sure make a lasting impression Very Happy. I would also start a lottery, and give my VSP away at the time of my dismissal. Kind of like a good bye, only with VSP.

I would go to the IRC chatroom and tell everyone that I am director, and ban xore. Possibly logan. I would make a new rule that all posts don't have an expiration date if it is a non-PBPP earning forum. I would give the first person that makes me a suitable director signature a dollar via paypal, but it has to be made in MS-Paint (or linux counterpart).

Finally, I would add a domain forum. For domain appraisals, discussion, etc. That would be a fun addition.

I would put back the auto-installer so those who don't know where to go searching for the tools it had will have that great feature once again to assist them. I would implament a bot or something that could weed out all the 0 response posts that over 30 days old to less the amount of empty posts. I would also create and archives section and move all the posts from over 6 months ago there. Make this a search only area for information purposes, and free up more space in the forums so they would not end up being 20-30+ pages long each. I would also have a celibration of the great job you have been running LLP Trel. Maybe have a secret word of the day where your post got double PBPP if you used the word Trel in it, but only for that day. Cool

I would create a referral system that would reward a user with vsp for referring new users.

I would post in the Announcement Board. Because I could. And then I would put the Script Installer back up.

I would allow the possibility to create subdomains from a domain name you own, which can be used for things unrelated to LLP. (for example, foobar.domain.com could be the url to some other server, like a game server).

I would also mod the forums so that post edits bump the thread to the top, and not allow double-posts. (Also, get rid of 1 hour edit limit).

I've been watching this thread closely as this sort of communication is important in finding out what you guys want. Smile

Let me list out the most common things I see so far:

1) Put the autoinstaller back in place.

Unfortunately this is impossible for one day as Director as the programming behind it is extremely complex at times and must work flawlessly in all cases.

2) 60 minute edit modification alterations.

Again.. this isn't necessarily a policy decision as it is a limitation of software. You could say you would make something a subforum of something else and wouldn't be able to do it without code alterations.

I'm not against the idea, but we do have to keep things realistic. Smile

3) Cleaning out/archiving old posts.

Mostly a policy decision that I disagree with. Unless I have a specific reason (security or performance) I tend to leave the forum largely the same unless I feel it just has to be done.

The reason behind this is posts link into more posts and pages link to posts.. and so on and so forth. It just makes things messy if you do that sort of thing (or at least could).

There is also the question of Google spidering the forum and how much traffic comes from Google or other search engines via the older posts.

4) Lottery/raffle..

I have no comments on this pending a possible announcement within the next couple of weeks.

Keep up the ideas.. I like what I'm hearing so far. Smile

If I was a director for a day:

I would search through the forums for requests, consider them, then implement them.

I would look through the post reports, then ban anyone who is spamming, and warn anyone who is abusing the PBPP system.

I would look around for active members, see who has not broken any rules so far, consider them, then ask them if they want to be a moderator or not.

I would try to look in the Tutorial Territory and see what tutorials are worth giving the VSP to the author, then move the tutorials into the Knowledge Base. After that, I would delete the forum since there is already a knowledge base for it.

I would look out for phpBB bug fixes and fix the bugs in this forum.

I would start contests and give out VSP and RDP prizes.

If i was teh LP_trel for the day
I would reduce support ticket waiting times.
Post around the forum more so the new members could get to know me.
Make another skin so users didn't have to use the horrible green one.
then i would burn burdmans super awesome electric car cause he don't deserve it.
the referal thing sound'ed good, i would think about adding that too.
Then maybe a update the the main page make it look nicer, maybe even make the whole site look nicer
and by the then day would proberly be over

And make me an op? I'm sick of being banned... I think it is only fair.

Anyway... if I was director for a day, I would add subscript and superscript abilities into BBcode because they aren't available on this forum as far as I know.

Trel- What did you think of my domains/domain appraisals/internet law/etc etc forum ideas? Something like http://www.namepros.com has. Not many, just one or two. It is a very vast subject that would get a LOT of attention. I know I would for sure post there before anywhere else.

Is this a trick question? Is ban LP-Trel and take over the right answer?

I would try to create a custom Hosting plan, which has been discussed in the past, I know, and which is difficult to implement, I know, and blah blah blah, I know.

That's my idea, and others' idea as well, but for some of us who don't know how long it takes to do certain things (like coding and programming), our ideas are probably going to seem farfetched.

The plan for old members is nice, but I think a custom plan would really hit the spot.
