Does anyone know how they would go about creating those "Divided by zero" type images?

I'm trying to decide if they are a straight up image (storm damage in the first one, drain pipe near the surface on the other) or a photoshop. I just can't seem to figure out how to create a "warp" type effect like you see in the photos. Any tutorials or such to help me out?
Thanks. _________________ Rashy! |

There isn't one-trick-fits-all solution. So it really depends on the photo you're editing.
For a general effect, you might want to use the Distort -> Pinch filter in Photoshop. For a 'hyperspace warp' effect you could use the Radial blur filter (check the Zoom option). _________________ If you can read this, my post is on an alternating background. |

Yeah, I have been playing around with the filters (I have GIMP, but was hoping I could work something out of a Photoshop tutorial).
I'll just keep playing around. _________________ Rashy! |

Both the images you referred to are not photoshoped except for the face in the hole and the text that appears in both of them.
The first one would be incredibly complex to manipulate like that, I mean, if you look at the detail in the boards, how every one is completely unique, and also look at the shadows, they are too realistic to be done in photoshop. I believe this is actually an installation, a peice of art so to speak that somebody fabricated in real life; I doubt any type of explosion or otherwise could have done this. The second one is clearly not photoshoped either because if you look at the context of the image, you will see the man is standing on a manhole. This means the manhole was lifted from the drain to allow more water to flow in, more quickly. I mean, this one could be photoshopped, but would be very hard to simulate the rotation of the water in a realistic manner.
Besides, i've seen both of these images on the internet without the divided by zero thing. _________________ The Gamer's Journal | Online Portfolio | Half-Life Library | Kokaro |

I was kind of suspecting that, but if you are damn good at Photoshop and maybe brought in a 3D modeller then it might have been possible... _________________ Rashy! |
