| They seem like general advice/events that happen to everyone almost everyday...but I do believe that a person with a particular sign is going to common with those traits, It basically describes the personalities of people of each sign. That one was dead on for me, but it could just be coincidence. sometimes I read horoscopes just for entertainment but I do not base my whole day on what a passage said my day would be like. that is ridicilous..... I believe they don't tell you the future.... I think if you read them in the morning or whatever they influence you that is how your day is going to go and that's how you make it go... it is that if you believe them and they tell you that you are going to have a socially filled day then you are going to go out of you way to have a socially filled day... |

I don't believe in horoscopes, and only read them for fun when I'm particularly bored and got a magazine around, that I've read all the other stories from.
I don't see how it could be the the date you were born at is in any way related to your personalty. Besides, horoscopes are very generalized. Try reading the horoscope of another month, and chances are it'll fit you just as well. Also, if you pick up horoscopes from different magazines, there's a good chance they'll actually tell you conflicting things. Horoscopes are all rubbish. _________________ Tarakana NET |

| I read horoscopes for fun, but my sign, scorpio actually fits me rather well. I don't really believe in the predictions of the future, though it's a good way to kill time. |

| They're entertaining, but I have a very hard time believing anything that bases "the future" on the alignment of stars. |

I used to believe them, but now it turns out Pluto isn't a planet any more, I feel hurt and betrayed.
They lied to us man, they lied!! |

Mostly for fun, but sometimes use it as an excuse. And sometimes to encourage myself.
I believe most of the telling of horoscopes are trying to make you good, or something like that. So, that is friendly suggestion. Telling you to avoid something bad, no matter that bad is really or not.
Take if for fun, and you can get fun in it. |

I always read them for fun, but they were usually too vague or too far off the mark, so I gave up any interest I had in them. I never believed that the planets could dictate my fate, though. _________________ "Dissent is the highest form of patriotism." --Thomas Jefferson

I currently do not believe in horoscopes. They are not true, and have no bearing on life. I mean, someone is writing them, and I don't know where they get it from. They could be some nazi biker pulling lines out of his *** for all I know.
Still, it is fun to read them and see how, and if, it fits into place with your day. Sometimes it hits the nail on the head, but other days it's completely off. That, I think, is what keeps me coming back for more. Just the plain old fun of it.
However, on this topic, I do believe that with skill and practice, you could technically be able to tell different things by the stars and where they fall. Not like horoscopes try to do, but more like in a general way. I don't know exactly how to describe it, but I think it's possible none the less. _________________

I read monthly horoscopes, not daily, mainly for fun but my sign Gemini suits me very well, oddly my days end up if not exactly the same as what I read fairly close (Most of the time). _________________ “When it hurts to look back, and you're scared to look ahead, you can look beside you and your best friend will be there.”

When I was thirteen years old I studied astrology quiet seriously. My interest was piqued once when I read of an encounter between Sir Edmund Halley (whose name is on the famous comet) and Sir Issac Newton on the subject. When Halley expressed his skepticism about Astrology, Newton retorted, "I have studied it, Sir, you have not."
Newton's adherence to Astrology was enough for me to try to discover for myself if there was anything to it. With that I studied the subject extensively and concluded, in the end, that Astrology is nonsense.
On the surface, the premise of Astrology is quite plausible though: that the stars and planets affect life on earth including you humans and us geniuses. In fact, modern science acknowledges that at the very least there is a gravitational influence between the planets. Where the system falls down where Astrologers attribute specific physical, mental, social and other characteristics to people, places and things.
An in depth study of Astrology reveals that in many ways it is quite arbitrary. When one looks at the different astrological systems there are often radically different interpretations for the same thing in the different systems notably the differences between Eastern and Western Astrology. Even within Western Astrology there is significant debate about the correct method of drawing up charts (casting horoscopes in their terminology) the correct interpretation of horoscopes (what they call synastry) and they have split themselves off into different Astrological 'schools.' There are at least a dozen different 'house systems' (methods of dividing the night sky into sections each with its own influences and meanings) and even different zodiacs (Ecliptic and Sidereal to name just two) not to mention the controversial topic of Arabic Parts which holds that certain points in the horoscope relative to the angle between two planets and the Ascendent (point on the Zodiac that is rising in the east) or the Mid-heaven (point on the Zodiac that is directly over the south) have an influence on people too sometimes even more powerfully than the planets themselves.
Even so, there are many people who take Astrology seriously, independent of the popular horoscopes found in newspapers. In the Far East, for instance, a great many people have their own personal astrologers including quite a few high powered businessmen and politicians. In newspapers, the Horoscope columns remains one of the most popular feature even though many astrologers themselves consider it to be too generalised to be useful which makes it, in essence, nonsense. But many people don't know this and consider Astrology to be an ancient systems of 'knowledge' long forgotten and misunderstood my the modern mind.
Well, I've studied it and, with all due respect to Sir Issac's genius, it's nonsense. I learned Astrology from the astrologers themselves and the many books they have written and I put it to the test. It just doesn't work.
Note to Blightlyred: Pluto may no longer be considered a planet but it is at the head of the list of a whole new class of objects: dwarf planets. When it was considered to be a full fledged planet it was at the back of the pack, but now, as a dwarf planet, it is the definitive object of its class. If that is any consolation to you. _________________ Misanthrope: someone who realizes that humans really are as stupid as they appear.

I like reading horoscopes for a bit of fun its hard to avoid them these days as they crop up everywhere and there's mystic looking people telling me what will happen just based on the day I was born. I still find it amazing how they can write appropriate stuff for all the millions of cancers, capricorns and tauruses out there. There are times when I read or ehar my horoscope and think um...well that could apply to me. Most of the time I find myself searching for something in my life that fits with the horoscope and ebcause they are mostly so vague, I always manage to find something. I can't say whether a prediction has every come true for me simply because I tend to forget all about my horoscope five minutes after reading it. The vague mentions of live lost and big changes ahead don't really stick.
However many people I know spend a lot of money on getting detailed horoscopes from professionla astrologers. They are obviously better than the newspaper ad types but I can't say that they are accurate. Despite the inaccuracies peopl still tend to happily go back to the same person again and again. I think part of this addiction is beyond a curiosity about the future and more about control. It would be wonderful if we could all tell what was going happen though that would make life very boring to live. _________________ [img:78323b42a3]http://sscm.moved.in/CODES/100x35press.jpg[/img:78323b42a3]SSCM - Ugly Betty Fansite

i used to beleive in them there is some method in the madness .. there was a time i wouldnt plan my day withuot reffering to my horoscope but tryconsulting more that 2 horoscopes drawn by different people they will most of the time give you conflicting statements and more often than not generalistic one that make you you beleive them to be true i guess we make our own detiny and not any piece of parch ment which is said to be true ....
