I wrestle with the question of whether or not there is a God. It seems like I can prove it both ways and disprove it both ways. Does the universe need a creator to exist? Or is this just an idea inside man-made theology? Man yearns for the eternal. He wants to live forever and be strong forever. He is the only animal as far as we know which builds churches and contemplates the infinite. This in itself may be an indication that immortality resides in a soul of some kind. If there is truth in religion, I accept the premises of the New Testament.

Your question is one that many people bring up. At times, it seems that there is no higher deity, but at others, it is vivid that one is indeed present. I am currently trying to find the answer to this question, as are many more people.
This passage which I have quoted does contain some discrepancy. Humans have something more than animals, in the sense that we can think for ourselves and form our own opinions. How can an ant, which does breathe, praise the Lord? After the ant dies, where does its spirit go? Do ants have a spirit?
In response to your question regarding the need or idea of a creator, I think that religion is a complimation of both. While it may seem that a big bang could occur naturally, several stories and events lead me to believe that God is present, thus why I practice the religion that I do. |

I like the question more than the answers.
I am seeking for the God too, though I do not believe in any religion. Where and how can I get any clue that can prove there is a God with us? No, as you can say, no one can show me, but only telling dose not meat much more than that I can read from the Bible or other books. And these books are written by people, who lived thousands of years ago. How can I believe that everything in those are all true?
There are so many questions that out of my control. It is so hard for me to understand the world is not fair. It would be very nice to have a God, who can create the whole world and now he can be the one to correct all the mistakes.
Is there any possible for us to have one? |

You can believe in God if you want, but this is one of the places where it gets dangerous. If there's one thing that millions of starving, destitute people prove, it's that you can't rely on God to bail you out. _________________ [img:d156d322f3]http://seriousbusiness.l2p.net/img/seriousbanner.gif[/img:d156d322f3]

| Most religions do have god(s), and they all sound like really good ideas. if one wants to use the Bible to prove that God exists, then one must be able to prove, and not just assume, that the Bible itself is correct. If you cannot do that then believing in God is at best a belief built on a foundation of sand, I have to say that I've always been of the opinion that if the word of 'God' was as just as it is supposed to be,.. then the existence of "god(s)" should have no effect on the validity of what are supposed to be his teachings. What I am trying to say is that everyone should ask themselves why they do not believe in Islam, Judaism or Buddhism when the essential message is the same, and only the rituals and prophets different. If two different prophets preach the same message, which one is right, and why? now ..does god exist? well I think this is unanswerable because people have blind faith and say he does exist but they just cannot prove it. people without faith say he does not exist but can't prove it either. and seeing as god hasn't seen fit to offer us any proof of his existence we dont know either way. |

How does an animal not make opinions or think for themselves? I see them full of opinions. They may not be verbal or ones you can understand...but you can see they have them in their actions. You see animals prefer a food over a differ food, where they sleep, who they sleep with. So from what you are saying is that anything that has lower intelligence doesn't have a soul.
About the ants soul going places...how do you know that its soul didn't go to heaven or whatever. Sounds to me like you are assuming because I have seen no real proof besides a book written who knows how long ago.
The worst part of this is that then you go around spreading your assumptuous ways of thinking to others and demeaning the life of animals. But heres some info to make you feel better....your not the only person with their eyes closed.
Shows one more time how "god fearing" people look down upon others. _________________ God doesn't exist but I do |

Since my last post, I think my thoughts have changed after reading The Plague as well as discussing existentialism in my thought/literature class.
There is one vague yet simple answer to your question: nobody knows. It would be very disappointing to find out that God does not exist (a lot of wasted Sundays), but I think if God doesn't exist, we would all have a sigh of relief in some way. However, I don't think it would be accurate to say that God doesn't exist because we all have an inner instinct that has a desire to "do right" and "get better." Those who don't have such a desire, though still human, lack self-esteem and aren't open to improvement. God is supposedly the incentive to better ourselves, so perhaps our inner motivation could be defined as our own God.

for all the puzzled people
if u really search for the god
if u really want the truth
just look around
look at the universe
look how the sun shines
look how the rain falls
if the whole nature was created by a drop of water
then who created that drop of water?
and if it was created by chance
there must be materials that that universe was created from
who made that materials?
and how can any materials mix by chance to form all that universe
look at all that
look at ur self
look at ur eyes
ur hands
ur legs and feet
look at ur mind
just think
its easy to say that there is god
just if u thought the right way _________________ love is like addiction,,when w can stop it , we dont want , and when we want, we cant |

Ok let's say that "God" exists. But which one? There are hundreds of religions around the world, each having its own god, or gods; hich one of them is the real?
For someone who is born in a Christian country believes the Christian God is the real one. But what if he was born in another country where they believe in another? He would probably not believe in the Christian god but to the god of his country's religion. The most people would say that Christianity is the most real looking religion because it's more wordwide accepted. That's because many people were forced to be Christians in the past.
My opinion is that it is a bit difficult for only one of all these gods to be real. There must be many real gods or none at all. And I think the second is more logical. |

u have to search urself
if u see 3 houses and u dont know which is ur house
u'll not go away sleep in the streets
and if u see amny religions
that mean its ur task
search
read and compare
decide if u'll have areligion or not
if u believe that there is god(i think u starting to believe) then its a god step
the next step is
which god and which religion
in islam and christian and jodiam we have the same god (i dont know much about jodiasm but i think its like what i said)
but there r some differences in rules and faith ways
so look around
read about all
hear from all points of view
and god will not leave u confused
its hard task
but u have to
try and u'll see _________________ love is like addiction,,when w can stop it , we dont want , and when we want, we cant |

All religions are talking about the same things, just with different gods and different cults. No, I'm not saying that all religions are the same, but they are still the same in the core, at least the most of them. Believing in an upper being or more, which created this world and rules all the people and that will help some people after their death. That's because all people have a natural fear for death and what's going to be there after they die. That's why they "discovered" religions, in my opinion.
By the way, I tried to read about all of them to find the truth and where I should give my faith, but "god" didn't help me; instead he confused me even more. To follow your metaphor, I tried to find my own home, but I understood that I can't live in any fake house that even if it makes me think I'm warm enough while it is cold on the outside it's just a fake feeling. I found my own home in the roads. I mean that all religions may sound good, but they are a fake way to soothe their fear of death. After searching for endless hours I finally found the truth on atheism, which may sound frightening because there is no "god" to help you, but I find it way better than having something fake to help you.
And about the God of christianity, Islam and Judaism, the only thing I have to say is that even christianity is divided in many sub-religions. For example Catholics have been in war with Orthodox christians just for one argument: the "and" in the sign of faith of christians (or however it is called in english). Why god didn't reveal the truth to all the people and stop all these silly disagreements about which is the true religion? Also why doesn't he make his existence more obvious for all of the people that belong to the group that are not blindly believing something? My answer for this is "because there is not any god". But this is just my opinion, which won't change though until I find something logical to believe in any religion. |

We can wonder if God exists all we want and never come up with a solid answer. It's simply unanswerable. A person can feel as if they have a connection with some god, but can they prove that the god really exists and that the feeling wasn't just their subconscious mind telling them what they wanted to hear? I think a better question to ask is does it really matter if God exists or not? _________________ "Dissent is the highest form of patriotism." --Thomas Jefferson

if u want the truth
then look at every thing
nothing can be created from nothing
and if there is someone who created all that
then he is the god
and if there is someone that created all that
then he is not fake
he is real
and if he was able to create all that
then he is able to help u when u ask
and when u said that he didnt help u
just imagine that all the prayers in the world were answered with yes
i mean if all the wishes in the world were achieved
there will be choase
there will be mess
just think
its all about logic
and i'm still 19
so i think alot
that got me aterrible head ahe as all muslims i know dont want me to think
i said before that there r many many many bad muslims
but islam tells us to think
in quor'aan there r many phrases ended with (dont u think?,,dont u see?,, dont u imagine?,,)
its all about mind and logic
use them and u'll get ur home _________________ love is like addiction,,when w can stop it , we dont want , and when we want, we cant |

First off, the non-religious theory of how the universe came to be holds that everything did come from something. In the Big Bang theory, the universe expanded from a single, minuscule point of matter. Not nothing, but something.
Second, if God did create the universe, what did he create it from? I mean, you say nothing can come from nothing, but what was here before God created the universe? _________________ "Dissent is the highest form of patriotism." --Thomas Jefferson
