dual audio mkv

I have a video file in .mkv format which has 2 audio, Japanese and English
I want to put it onto DVD but Nero won't accept .mkv files, so i need to convert it to something, i tried to convert it to avi using Avidemux but for some reason it can't read it.

I want to either keep both the Japanese and English audio, or remove the japanese so that its only english

Does anyone know of a program that'll do that?

Try Handbrake from http://www.handbrake.fr/

The 0.9.3 version accepts input from different media types so that might help.

although it seems like its going to work, it says it'll take about 38-40 hours to complete
