Not sure if you guys about Edison Chen scandals, here's a brief and some lessons learnt. In Nov 06, Edison purchased PowerBook from a computer shop in Hong Kong's Central district Later, he send his Mac for repairs, and an estimated 1,300 intimate photographs of Edison and numerous celebrities including Gillian Chung, Maggie Q, Bobo, Cecilia and others may have been accessed and copied by one or more of the shop's employees without consent.

Rumours say that Edison's photographs were between 2003 and 2005. It seemed this Edison likes to to take photographs during intimate moments with his sexual partners, of which 14 were celebrities, and privately showed these to a select group of close friends.

Sometime end Jan 08, the first nude photograph of Edison and Gillian was posted on the Hong Kong's discussion forum. More photographs were released after denial by the actress management agency. And there are rumours of this guy named "Kira" extorting money from the actor and actresses. And this Kira is like promising fans releases of more photographs.

And the lesson learnt is, do not take nude photographs and keep it on your laptops but if you do, you better use Truecrypt to encode them.

Can't that guy who took the photos off the computer get in big trouble for this? At the least fired from his job for not respecing the privacy of his client. Surely fixing the laptop didn't require him to view all of Edison's personal photos.

But, then again it is partly Edison's fault for having those photos (apparently) readily accessible. He should have saved the photos to CD or something and removed the photos from the computer before sending it in. It's always risky to have nude anything on your computer and let someone else use it for fear of them finding the nudes.

It's a kinda crazy thing that this happened - it also seems kinda crazy that he managed to sleep with so many well-known celebrities, but that's a different topic I suppose.

The guy that took the photos off his computer should and probably will get in trouble - if they find out who he is. Last I heard they were still investigating and searching for these things.

Definitely not a good idea to keep those photos on a laptop - especially if you were to send them in for repairs. Interesting that his hard drive was obviously searched for things - maybe he knew that this Edison bloke had taken some risque photos or something.

However, putting them on CD or other portable media storage would probably also be dangerous, because they could be so easily taken.

I think the latest development on the story is that Edison is withdrawing from the Hong Kong entertainment industry indefinitely - which is probably a good move (apparently some gangster offered HK$500 000 for his hand....)
