When I want to edit my own posts I get a message telling me I can't edit posts which were posted more than 60 minutes ago. I find this time too short and sometimes it's pretty annoying you can't update a post or something. I was thinking of making this delay bigger such as 8 hours. This is just my opinion. Smile

On my damn PBPP I know why it's been implemented for. But I don't think cheaters will do that. All debates on the forum are (I hope) monitored by moderators. It takes more than 8 hours for a topic to get buried.

I don't think it's that easy to cheat.

Old topics are always locked by moderators. And locked topics cannot be edited.

Moderators could just lock topics without activity for 1 week.

Or if this feature is still going to be implemented..., at least there's a modified edit feature: You click Edit, and the normal Edit page comes up. You edit your post, then click Submit. But your post does not get edited straight away. A moderator has to look at what you edited then approve the edit.

The edit limit is annoying in the Web Arts Exposé.
Yesterday i wanted to update my post with new information but could because of the limit so i had to post a new reply for it instead.

I agree with Jacky, but it will end up being a lot of work for the moderators

Trel already made it a rule that you have to report your own post to edit it...

What I suggested is a better version of it. Because when reporting, you have to add BBCodes again, since you can't Edit and copy your entire post. Really troublesome.

With my suggestion, the normal Edit page comes up, and you can edit, then "report" it to be edited.

I think with this the moderators have lesser work to do, instead of more. Wink

Or how about "append to post", eg: write what you want to append and it is posted under the original post text under a heading "edit on this day, this time".

Maybe making a new post would be a better idea.
Anyway, the edit button is for quick corrections if you notice that something is wrong after posting. It shouldn't take hours to find out.
If you have something new to add or really feel the need to point out a mistake in your previous post, then write this in another post.

But sometimes people on look on the first post, for example a fix for a certain script, etc.

I would still recommend the edit function being enabled because even if you make a new post, you need to point your first post to it.

Most people won't spend time browsing the pages just for it. And people might not know there is.

I come with a revolutionary idea. Very Happy

What about not giving the PBPP while editing a post that was written one hour ago?

How about my shameless fraud plan for that:
You write huge post (ie. copy it from the net). You score the full 55 PBPP (or whatever it is) for that post.
You quickly edit it to contain your normal post. Twisted Evil

If you delete something the PBPP is be removed. But it cannot increase after one hour since you posted.

I think thats the best idea. you could still edit posts like normal, but after the hour not get anything for them
