FF 3 Beta 4 is out!
complete Firefox 3 Beta 4 review: http://mozillalinks.org/wp/200.....-4-review/
Firefox 3 Beta 4 release notes:
http://www.mozilla.com/firefox/3.0b4/releasenotes/
some website mention this is 900 improvement in beta 4
But seems like the dev team doesn't hear the people voice: The back button design is bad. I think there will be many user changed the default screen...
anyway, hope stable FF3 will release soon. _________________ Sleepless Cat‧The one looking for her path... |

I'll wait for a final release before installing Firefox 3.
Judging from the feedback + screenshots of the current beta, it does seem promising, still a lot of progress to go before the big launch date. :/ |

I've used it for a while now and I must say except for the annoying "do you want firefox to remember this password for you" bar I like it. _________________

This can't be turned off in the option?
I am no time to test it, but it sound quite good up to now, in term of functionality (ACID2, CSS 3 is impressive) ...there is so many people complain the UI Issue, especially the new default theme.(beta 4 is diif from beta 3, but the design still upset me!)
but in term of stability, beta 4 look good. (I heard it quite easy to get hang and shut down itself in alpha 1, but now it looks ok...anyway, the ff1 beta still perform better than IE8) _________________ Sleepless Cat‧The one looking for her path... |

I probably won't install beta 4, Beta 3 wasn't all that great so i'll probably just wait for an RC or something.
Can't you disable the setting for remembering passwords withing the options? I had to do that on firefox 2. _________________ http://www.damnidunno.com | http://www.mjhq.net | http://www.SnapCite.com |

Why don't you like it? I prefer it over a popup as it is not as intrusive. If you didn't want it to show at the time, just press the "not now" button like you would normally if it was displayed as a popup or ignore the bar until you close the tab.
Scar, is there really that much difference? With most betas, I find the added functionality and improved aesthetics among other aspects easily outweigh some issues.
Also, what is wrong with the back button design? Are you referring to the dropdown that displays the tab history? I don't see any problems with that, in fact, I find it better as it is more clean with just the one dropdown. It may just take some time getting accustomed to it, or mostly getting out of old habits.
neek, it's fine to use now, trust me |

martinz, yes, Beta 4 is more than stable enough for most users. But you are listening to someone who uses an alpha OS, beta web browser, beta office suite and a lot of other pre-stable software. Side note: just realised ubuntu hardy is now beta, so no more alpha OS!
Anyway, don't worry about it being a beta. It is fine. For the record, the only problem I have had is after resuming from hibernate with Firefox left open where there is a hang for a few seconds to 30 seconds (proportional to memory usage). That could possibly be only due to an incompatible extension (I force about 20 Firefox3 incompatible extensions to run on it) |

Heheh, I'm running the latest debian build (as in the unstable one, not that it really is unstable but yeah). Firefox 3 has a slightly better startup time. Firefox 2 took about 4-5 seconds here. Now it only takes 3-4 seconds. But it's memory usage went down by a lot so it's quite good. _________________

Nice
More info regarding Firefox 3's improved memory usage:

The results graph is particularly interesting. Surely biased though, it's just a matter of how much, as in my albeit short time of trying IE7, it didn't seem to show any adverse effects. |
