I googled this, but i guess I didn't use the proper keywords because i didn't find anything (ew google.
I have a linksys cable/dsl router with the home networking built into it, and i have the pc down stairs and mine on the same network.
I need to back up files on my PC so i can possibly take Vista off of it and put Xp on it. My hard drive isn't big enough to create partitions (only 80 gigs, ew, buying a 320 gig hard drive next week though , eh maybe i should wait til this to do this, ha), and i have no dvd burner (the local stores only have ATA or whatever dvd burners, my pc requires SATA, sucks) so i need to just move the files to the other pc for now.
however i can only move maybe 300-400mb at a time before it times out and just stops sending. Well I guess its timing out. It does this also when i am trying to copy alot of files or large files from that pc to this one.
While the files aren't transferring (the meter bar thing is frozen etc) i goto windows explorer and look at the networks, and it says none can be detected. But as soon as i cancel that file transfer its all back up and i can start again. It's really weird.
It works fine if i want to manually copy several files at a time, but that can be very annoying. i'd rather just select a few folders and copy and paste to that computer.
Does anyone have any idea as into why its doing this?
