I think only Graeme and PJ can raise the support ticket for this problem. I have sent a text to Graeme in the hope that he has an internet connection, so hopefully the problem can be solved quite quickly.

Did you get any reply from Graeme?

If the problem is at our end, why hasn't it been sorted?

Yes, but the news was not good. It looks as though there will have to be another change in host, and judging on the last time it happened, I guess we will be off quite some time. Never say never though.

If Bob Geldof done forums we'd have had a concert done for us by now.

Give me a shout when the forum is up and running again.

Change hosts? ARe you seriously asking that? If people cant get their sites to work properly which seems to be server problems for them, and support tickets are never answered, why would they stick around and just deal with it in the hope that someday Trel isn't busy and feels like bothering with them?

I can totally understand w hy people move hosts. In the past year i've used tons of hosts. But all of the paid hosts i've used kinda sucked compared to Lifelesspeople's amazing hosting.
I hope i never have to leave this hosting Sad
but at the same time i can understand why others would leave.

I did not mean moving from here! I meant a change in host server. The current one apparently can not cope with the sheer size of the site, causing all the problems. Trel has already been in contact with Graeme, and we are awaiting further news.

I'd trade an archive that goes back to 2003 and a forum full of non-posting members for a brand new forum. I'd much rather register again and lose the ability to look back on topics of yesteryear than have to post on an unstable forum.

We're almost at the stage where, if someone creates a new topic, the reply will consist of a sarcy comment and a link to the same topic from years ago.

Nail on head. Whats the point of having all those old topics? Clear out and start from scratch

Sounds good to me. Start fresh, wheat, chaff and all that crap. Very few posting members actively covet their post count. Those that do will have to re-earn 'respect' .Worth a go I reckon.

Do it, do it now. There is a very worrying situation in Bolton, at this very moment delegates from the EU are meeting in Brussels to decide what to do about the mountain of used up "F5" keys building up around the Bolton area before it becomes a full blown enviromental disaster Wink

ps. Where is Graeme? I know the Irish are a bunch of drunks (stereotypes ftw) but this is taking the piss Very Happy

You ain't seen me, right. *taps nose twice and points*

C'mon Mel, who the hell are we to question what is going on, I mean as mere people who post on SAM and help newcomers, therefore, making the site viable and more attractive to curious potential contributors, thereby increasing the number of people who see the adverts, why should we be told the score.

It has, after all, only been 12 days without an explanation.

Jesus woman, get a grip!

Wish I was a moderator on Socceram.net. I would have been told what was going on by now and could have told people.

Going away tomorrow for a few days, the site will be back up and running time I get back Laughing Laughing Laughing Laughing Laughing Laughing Laughing

I am in favour of a brand new up to date site with all the newest PhpBB has to offer. Without the majority of most of the bits that had been added to the last site. If not a new site, strip back the old one to the bare basics and update to the latest version of PhpBB.

But I guess PJ wouldn't have time to do this, and Elvis will be found riding Shergar with Lord Lucan as a trainer before Graeme is seen.

By the way, surely logs of how much bandwidth the site uses each month would let you know the correct server to host the place? The site hasn't got any bigger for years, so moving to this server a few months ago was a bad decision on somebody's behalf wasn't it.
