Just so everyone knows Graeme is working on this. There's a fair few major issues with the site but the thing was we were actively looking to revamp the site before all this messing.

Also, when the site goes back live we NEED full access to the servers. No longer can we go without be able to edit whats on there. I'm sure its difficult to keep everything working like perfect but we should be getting the service we are signed up for.

You can keep all the old posts, you can keep all the posts that you guys accumulate through the years...

There's no need to restart from scratch, unless the site goes down every other minutes, because this is just a simple MySQL problem.

Even if you really need to restart, you can keep the old forum as an archive by locking up the forum, then starting a new one.

Don't you guys have a backup forum? I saw it the other time.

We do but no one uses it cos its cack.

To be honest I don't think people are too annoyed its down now. Its the fact its down and they probably aren't aware of whats happening. It is really annoying when it goes down but when its hosting related there's not really any point in complaining about the forum itself.

I'll do my best to keep everyone updated as and when I hear anything.

If you check your MSN history, you will find that I have sent you a message relating to this. However, as there is noweher to post about the problem other than here, then surely the message I left was enough? I got a rocket off people for "jumping in too much", now I am not doing enough....

To keep you up to speed, I had a brief MSN conversation with Graeme, and relayed what I knew on here. I know nothing else other than the message I posted previously.

MEANWHILE why not use the downtime to upgrade to PHPBB V3. It is absolutely amazing, although the skins are a touch few and far betweeen thus far. The stuff built in to the forum is so much better, and flattens all those add-ons we already have installed. All the stuff from the past remains also, should it be needed, and if I am not mistaken all the older threads people keep harping on about, go into an archive area for read only purposes if the administrators set the board so to do.

As for the bandwidth, the clue must be in the amount of points we need to obtain here in order to keep the site running..... Or have I missed something?

That'd be a decision Graeme would have to make. We could talk about the pro's and con's of V3 for ages but at the end of the day its his site so he'll have to decide whether he feels its worth it. I can see your arguement upgrading though. In an ideal world it would be great.

last message i have from you on msn:

"Does this apply to ALL switch transactions, or just those of RoBS?" on the 2nd of June.

If you sent an offline message - i changed my settings so i don't receive them anymore because people kept annoying me with offline messages as soon as they saw me log in to SAM - like, how dare i not be on msn if i'm online elsewhere!

also - i didn't mean, in particular, why haven't you told us - i meant you or graeme. If he can get in touch with you on msn or wherever, and if he's working on the site as PJ says, then why can't he post on here and fill us all in on what's going on?

Apparantly sarcasm doesn't work.

WHAT THE HELL IS GOING ON? Are we going to have a site any time soon?

Is Graeme alive?

It is not a lot to ask that we be informed what is occurring, for ****'s sake sort it out!!

Apparently it is being sorted, but without the points needed to host the site, it will probably be off next month anyway. If we do not get the points we will not get the site. It's catch twenty-two! People are not posting here the site will not be back anytime soon even when the problem is solved.

Why should the moderators know what is going on? They only run and keep the site safe Laughing If I was you, when the site is back up and running, get Graeme's email or MSN address, then you can badger him!

It's getting me down because there's a link to a free pornographic website in the Rest of the Interweb section. It streamed a good selection of videos. I can't remember the name of the site. Obviously I can't look for the thread.

My right arm is so weak right now. Oh, so weak.

I can deal with the situation mentally, but when it starts affecting my physical state...

The forum, being as large as it is, has overpowered the server on which it was hosted. New hosting arragements are being discussed by Graeme and Trel. Not sure when the site will be back, it depends on the amount of time both can dedicate to the problem.

I'd love you back if you let me play with your balls.

Just saying the thing i dont like about here is that you just know that 90% of the people who post here dont post because they want to, they post because they have to.

Take the fun out of a forum if you know what i mean blood.

*Disclaimer*

The Skoko NEVER uses words like "blood" he is only using it to see what he looks like if he tried to be a bit gangster.

Cheers for the limited info PJ.

No offense mate, but where's the organ grinder? Why hasn't he answered here? Would only take him two minutes.
