Hi guys, I haven't been around for a while. I just decided to come back and maybe get some hosting.
Anyway, I'm currently developing my own game, and wanted to know what you guys think about the idea for it, and if you have anything to add.
The game is a top down "hover tank" game, where you pilot a hover tank and shoot up stuff. There is a story mode and a multiplayer mode.
There are 3 main playable tanks, each with different speeds and guns. The first one is fast and has a laser, the second one is slower and has heat-seeking rockets, and the third is medium-speed and can shoot a bomb that spins 360 and shoots small projectiles.
Anyway, any ideas? _________________ |

Sounds like an old-school arcade game to me add some interesting things to make it different and addicting and who knows, you might have the next big indy-game hit _________________ .// Proud to be Lifeless for more then 6 years \\. |

I've got the basic engine down, and once I get some sprites together I'll post up a demo on here, but do you have any specific ideas that could make it different? _________________ |

You should try adding some features to speed up the game. Maybe a special that allows your tank to quickly jump around the field to engage several enemies at once. If done right such simple things that don't happen too often can make a game fun _________________ Dilly dally, shilly shally. |

Probably wouldn't hurt to add some RPG things in there (like skills, levelling, etc...), that seems to be something almost any game needs to have these days _________________ .// Proud to be Lifeless for more then 6 years \\. |

Thanks for your suggestions
I probably won't be putting any RPG elements in the game though, as it's meant as a fast arcade style game. I'm going to make an RPG about my school though soon. _________________ |

Leitzge, I'm not much of a gamer and can't think of any ideas myself but I'm interested nonetheless in what seems to be a beefed up Asteroids. Any idea when there will be a demo?
And as expected, I'm more interested in the technical side of things, for starters, what are you developing it with?
Good luck with it by the way.

No, most definitely absolutely not. Besides the fact that as Leitzge mentioned, it's an arcade game, RPG games and particularly the skill and experience "earning" is the worst thing to ever happen to gaming and it's making my attempts to find a decent game even harder with games like that popping up everywhere. And I'm not just talking about atrocities such as World of Warcraft but even titles such as Prototype or Assassin's Creed. The only elements that should ever need to be unlocked in a game should be things that require previous experience in the game itself, such as unlocking faster cars in a game like DiRT. /rant _________________

I'm using Game Maker to make the game.

At the moment I'm actually working on two games.
In the second game that I'm working on you control a balloon around levels with your mouse by making wind. I'm pretty sure that that one will be released much earlier than this one. _________________ |

World of Warcraft is awesome and actually does require some skill and knowledge of your class to be a decent player . _________________ .// Proud to be Lifeless for more then 6 years \\. |

It only really requires skill or knowledge of your class to be a decent level during the endgame, otherwise it's just time to level up. _________________ |

Yeah, which is why I play on private servers, where you don't need to use up your time to level your character, and you can get all the gear you want. _________________ |

I played on a private server for a while, the lack of people playing, the lag and the fact that there's absolutely no challenge scared me away _________________ .// Proud to be Lifeless for more then 6 years \\. |

You need to find a good community to play on a private server, where the people know how to run a server and prevent lag.
There is a challenge in that you are actually playing the game against other people. I'm mainly talking about PVP here. _________________ |

I'm more of a PVE player myself, PVP is fun, but I just have more fun with the PVE content. _________________ .// Proud to be Lifeless for more then 6 years \\. |
