|
|
Hi,
Well, it's me again. Now that I can get hosting here, I'm wondering in the order form (the last part) where it says domain hosting, I probably have to enter a domain name I already have right? Well my question is do I write :
http://www.thisisanexample.net
www.thisisanexample.net
thisisanexample.net
And for sub-domain I write whats between : www. & .net right?
Thanks |

First off, you need to point your domain name at L2P's nameservers; you can do this from a control panel at the website you registered your domain name. The nameservers are as follows:
| Quote: | ns1.lifelesspeople.com
ns2.lifelesspeople.com |
Once you've done that, submit a request for a domain hosting package, include the name of your domain name (the staff at L2P handle the request, so this may take a day or two).
Once the staff sorts it out, you'll have an account on one of the two servers L2P runs (Aesir or Asguard, you'll be told which one you're on upon plan approval).
That's all there is to it. Good luck. _________________ Why is it that more time you use, the less time you get?

I don't think you have actually bought a domain name somewhere else, is this correct? If you don't have a domain name, you have to choose one, but I don't know if those are available right now, but you may be able to get something like yourname.net.ru or something like that.
For the subdomain, you have choose a domain plus some name of yours, eg.:
yourname.l2p.net or
yourmomsname.belike.net
There is a list of the domain names you use with a subdomain somewhere in the knowledge base, actually, it's right here (after a quick search):
http://www.lifelesspeople.com/.....e&k=80
So, I'm guessing you don't have a domain name (which you would've bought outside of Lifelesspeople for about 7 or 8 bucks a year), so you need to choose one from that list and make up some kind of subdomain. |

I havent bought one you're right I got this :
www.altf4pros.co.nr (thats the one I got)
It's already set up to work with awardspace.com, but they're no way as good as here so I want to change. I can give you a screenshot if you like.

Yeah, so if you want to keep www.altf4pros.co.nr then you would have to ask your current host to point the domain to the nameservers listed above.
I doubt they will do this since it is a free host and a free domain, so your best bet would be to either buy a domain (from GoDaddy or Yahoo) or just use one of the subdomains hosted here. |

.co.nr "domains" are only redirection and not DNS.
You will need to use a subdomain and then redirect your .co.nr "domain" to it. _________________ * Knowledge Base * Wiki * Forum FAQs * |

You can leave the www off. |

you would need to buy some top level domains or some second level domains if you are to request for a "domain hosting" here at lifelesspeople.com and if still haven't got the resources you could apply first for a "sub-domain hosting", then maybe you could apply for a change in webhosting services from subdomain hosting to domain hosting whenever you already got some paid domain names, like what watsonalgas has suggested try looking some affordable domain names at godaddy.com.
subdomain hosting are a free package here at lifelesspeople, then use your url redirection tool to further costumize your domain name. also, i doubt you'll get something in ****.net.ru and ***net.ru, some technical isues from the company running these free second level domain names i guess, but you can try your luck. www.****.com.ru has been close a year back so try to skip on requesting for a free ***.com.ru
some easy picks on subdomain names here are
sidenotes:
- some url redirection are not good on business sites, since you would be working much in advertising your website and search engines and page ranks.
- url redirection works as referral links, you would not be able to track incoming visitors from what url they came from or the true referral address they use to access your website. you will notice this at "awstats"

As long as your domain is issued by ICANN, it is allowed here.
DNS subdomain services are disallowed as primary (main) domain, but it is allowed as an addon/parked domain. Examples are uni.cc, cjb.net, etc. _________________ Jacky |
