|
|
| I am looking for freeware / open source software to capture or record video streams, it can be Windows or Linux based software. Thus far, I have problem capturing the following video streams hosted at http://www.channelnewsasia.com/video, just click on any of the video and you know what I meant. The only way I found is to use CamStudio, but its a Screen Recording utility, not a video stream recorder. Wonder anyone has any better recommendations of video streaming recorder that is able to record this stream from the abovementioned site, thanks in advance. |

| Yeah I had been looking into these at one time before I found a lot of different trials but none of them seemed to work to well! |

I believe VLC allows you to record HTTP streams. But it won't help you here, because it seems the videos on that site are Flash videos.
These work as follows: there is a Flash component embedded on a web page. This component loads a Flash video (these files have the .flv extension), which it then plays.
What you have to do is find out where these .flv files are stored and simply download them from there. The HTML source code of the player page should hold enough clues, but it might require some trial and error before you find the right URL.
When you have the .flv files, you can convert them to any regular video format using a program like MediaCoder. _________________ If you can read this, my post is on an alternating background. |
