linuxdoctor has his own personal favourite method: he takes a controversial stand on certain topics and defends it against all replies. If you take your time to write good arguments, you will be rewarded with gallons of PBPP (I always like to think of PBPP as a liquid). Silly

The longer your post or comment is, the more points you will receive. If you write something meaningful and other people will reply, you can have a debate and earn points easily that way.

You can also sell stuff or services in exchange for VSP, convert it to RDP and use it to pay for your account. I used to sell Neopoints (points for neopets.com) here once, and it made point making that much easier, but then the mods forbade it, so now I just post.
