Huh? No offense but I think it is really lame when a site tells the user what browser they should be using and what resolution they should be using. Your site should be cross-browser compliant, or at least just follow the standards. (since IE can be known to mess your site around even if your site is up to standards).
Although there doesn't seem to be anything wrong in my browser, Firefox, I can't view it in IE since I don't have it. _________________ Tutorial Management Script - Version 1.3 Released

I'm not sure for what reason but that just seems to be part of the image because it looks exactly the same in IE as it does in Firefox and my resolution far surpasses that one too. The only actual difference is the fact that a custom scrollbar is used when you view it in IE, but they are lame anyway. _________________ I Love Rebecca More Than Anything In The World <3

It's not what browser you should be using, it's what the minimum requirements to view the site at its best are. Of course you can use other browsers to look at it but if say you are using something below IE 5 the layout might be different, or you might not see some aspects of it.
That said apart from this small detail any other improvements needed? _________________ [img:78323b42a3]http://sscm.moved.in/CODES/100x35press.jpg[/img:78323b42a3]SSCM - Ugly Betty Fansite

For some of my more recent sites I require javascript to be enabled. If you don't have it enabled then you can't see the site. Simple. Also, not keeping up with the latest versions of a browser isn't cool either. IE5? I don't even care to code for it.
As for your site, it's pretty darn nice. Very similar to other fansites I've seen. Nice big banners that tell you exactly what the site is about (nevermind the size, it's not that big). A nice set of colors as well. The one thing that annoys me is the fact that I'm so used to multi column layouts that the lack of any other vertical content is... weird.
Oh! And one more thing, the (c) Wellingtonboots 2007 text on the big header. It really doesn't fit with the glow around it like that. A simple white, or even gray text with no effects would look much better I think. _________________ [img:bd4240ba2d]http://gethalo3gear.com/signature/images/halo_signature_1.jpg[/img:bd4240ba2d] |

Well, as far as the layout goes, I like the header, it's a nice looking blend with a clear 'Star Wars' message.
The middle of the site though? Too much peach! Really! Peach coloring annoys me for some reason. Why don't you try some nice grayish blues or even shades of brown, instead. _________________ Tarakana NET |

You shouldn't design for only one resolution and browser, and if you do.. don't. If you must include your notice, put in somewhere less conspicuous. Just to a view a minisite, most people are not going to change their resolution and browser, so all you are doing by having it placed so prominently is making IE5 users at 1024x860 feel chuffed.
Copyright is fun for the whole family, but it really doesn't need to be in your header image. If you are worried about the image being stolen, just make sure the header is branded to suit your site, and only your site.
Speckles are always fun, but when they are the same colour and placed in front of text, gypsies cry. [It's not as easy to read as navigation should be.]
Also, is 'Hayden Christensen as Anakin Skywalker/Darth Vader' necessary?
Is it a caption? A tagline?
It doesn't describe the content of the website, or really make much sense at all.
Perhaps you could say 'Fanfiction and art from the StarWars universe!', or just cut the entire line of text away. |

Although the banner is better designed than most I've seen, I agree. It is a bit too big, and I don't get the quote at the bottom either. It looks great for design but then just makes everything seem so cramped together.
Also, you don't seem to have much content, but I'm guessing your still working on it. The website seems pretty bland though, once you scroll down away from the banner. Everything seems dull and...boring. Well, since your not finished I guess its ok for now. But get some content up soon, it'll help make your site look a lot better. |
