Here I have my first draft for my blog. The objective is to make a light featured blog without using third parties content management schemes. There are still many features to be added, but the layout might remain mostly the same.

Theres a new Layout!!!

I dont know if you remember the last one I was using but it wasnt that nice and looked kind of dated and clumsy. I accept I did it in less than a day and was quite in a rush.

But now its different. I've put quite some effort in getting this one just right, so please tell me what you think.

Im kind of worried about the color palette, so any suggestions on that is greatly appreciated.

I'd say the layout look amateurish. Like you took some photoshop effects and threw them around. There's also this black gradient thingie in the header that makes reading annoying when you scroll. You should look into getting a more modern looking layout.

As for the content, it is very interesting and I like it. That shoes thing is very weird to me. I saw in manga students wearing some sort of slippers inside the school and it just looked so alien!

Yea, it does sort of look amateurish and I think it has to do with the banner at the top. It looks sort of old fashion and not entirely modern looking. You should try learning a bit more of Photoshop and try to get it to look more up to date. You can find great tutorials for website design at places like pixel2life or goodtutorials.

Content, well it looks like you have a good amount going. Your posts seem thorough and I read a few bits here and there and it all seemed interesting. I'd read more but I think the whole layout just seems to turn me off of it. Its a good site, just work on the design a bit more.

The blog itself is excellent. I like it. The template itself could do with some work, but I don't think that's overly important. After all, it's the content which matters right?

I actually like it. i love how Japanese people use alot of colors in all of their work, even on the tv shows.

The only problem i have is with the blog entry titles. The text is black, and the background is red. It really tends to mess with my eyes, and i bet others as well.

You might try using a lighter shade of black (dark grey) for the text. It'll still look black, but it won't be as bothersome to eyes. My eyes are sensitive though, so it might just be my personal problem ha.

jbsongaku, just a suggestion, but you may want to consider adding an "About Page" to your site.

It's a very enjoyable blog, but it almost feels as if the reader (even though they're reading all about you) knows nothing about you.

I know you're intending to write to a general audience (with your excellent descriptive writings), but it always helps to put a face to the text.
