Provided a clickable link to my site first off. I kind of hate when there be peeps a posting a website here and they don't make a clickable link in there post. I dunno, kind of hate having to copy and paste the address. Silly

So, it's a Linkin Park fansite. A tribute site perhaps? Maybe I'll become eccentric and start posting all my fansites as Musical Tributation Portals.

Anyway... as of now, you will need to have JavaScript enabled in order to view the site. I haven't yet gotten around to making the site backwards-compatible with respect to JavaScript.

Why is javascript necessary? I built the infrastructure of the site using the web tech known as AJAX. Probably could have created a more bandwidth intensive design to take advantage of the AJAX but oh well.

I had this design idea in my head for awhile and when I got to actually creating it I just really liked it. There's a lot of stuff I can add to it such as animations and such just to make it more interesting.

Now onto the actual site content. It's not completely uploaded. You can view each page but I haven't uploaded all of the content but there is enough there to get a feel for what the site will look like.

What I'd like is comments on what you think about the design, the Ajax functionality, and other elements you might find commentable. Please! Let me consume your feedback!! I'm hungry for criticism people!

ooo! Quick note: Yes the band may not have come out with some material for awhile now but their music still exists and is listened to by millions of their fans. Plus... they're working on an album now which should come out... sooner or later.

Edit: Almost forgot: Designed to be viewed best in 1024x768 or greater. Best viewed with Firefox (still can't figure out why IE is messing up the alignments!!!).

It's not bad. For you, it's a fairly decent start. A good idea for using AJAX, but beware for those visitors who aren't currently up to the latest web trends and software, you might lose some visitors that way.

I'm viewing it in Firefox 1280 x 1024, and the sidebar looks out of place. I don't know if it's an alignment error, or whether it's supposed to be like that, but it looks awkward -- the fact that the sidebar content is longer than the main content.

Also, for each entry in your shoutbox, add some padding. The shouts look so close and adjacent together it looks like a normal iframe with some borders.

Nice job on the simple, line-based design.

You might want to provide an option of going to a page with a large shoutbox, OR, a page with just the shoutbox. Perhaps that might be more convenient for people to shout than having to squeeze in a small textbox. Wink

Its original.
Add some color to it and see what it looks like.
Adjust so the page doesn't have to be scrolled (horizontally) to see everything. Yes I am viewing in 1024x768.
Optimize your white space, balance the page.
I do not like the navigation. Its in the center of the page whereas I look at borders for navigation. Maybe go traditional and move the logo to top and put navigation horizontally under it?
Enlarge your shoutbox a tad so you can at least fit a sentence in without wrapping the text.
The less scrolling a visitor has to do, the better.

I like the direction you are going in general. Can you keep the post current so we can watch your design progress?

Hey! Some good ideas/feedback I'm getting. Cool.

I like the idea of having an additional whole page for the comments box. It's completely doable without any major alterations. Nice idea Jacky.

Padding on the comment box. I assume you mean between comments...

I'm not sure what kind of layout disfunctionalities we're experiencing here. I'd appreciate it if you could take a screenshot and point out the problems you see.

For now, expect to see a few changes later today.
