Erm, howdy.
Um, so, ok I've never done a site like this before. I have a little experience tweaking sites and setting up basic pages, graphics, etc for various companies I've worked for, but I've never actually put a site up for myself.
Anyway, it's at http://vv3b.com (thanks for the domain, Seyeko!)
I've had it now for a couple months, but never actually put anything up because I was a little intimidated. So tonight, I just slapped together something really basic, but while messing around, I came up with a color scheme I think looks pretty good.
Anyway, my girlfriend and I live in Chile, I'm an American and she's Chilean. We both speak English & Spanish, so we want to start doing translations full time from home. It's a pretty cut throat industry, but it pays well when you can get the work. So I figure a slick website is going to be key.
We're also planning on putting up a web forum that focuses mostly on Eng/Esp language issues, though probably with a computer techy section too (that, if it gains any following, will spin off into it's own site if I can figure out how to make a few bucks from the traffic.) Finally, we're planning to do a real time, free, mini translation box, sort of like a shoutbox where people can post short snippits of words or phrases, and get a response (the idea being to give an example of our skills, and make the site genuinely interactive.)
Oh, finally, I also do DVD subtitling, so am hoping to establish some customers that way too.
We're not looking to get rich or anything, but it'd be nice to have some money to go back to the US next year to visit my folks.
Anyway, any advice, thoughts, etc would be really... really welcome. Thanks!
