OK, a while back, a REALLY long while back, I asked for a review of my website. Well, I am integrating my website into phpBB3, which is currently in Beta 2, just so it's ready (besides all the updating I will have to do) for the final release. Check out the whole site, everything! I hope you like it, because I put MANY hours of work into it.

Comment on...

Info
The wording of Forum description, and other places where I made the text
The style (I made it...)
How well I integrated the site (like it/not)
Whether, if you were into Rock n' Roll, you would choose to post there (I don't mean I'm spamming, I mean, is it very smooth, and nice looking so that it would make you want to post there)
And, last of all, do you like the job I did on the portal?

I like the general design of your site, text is easy to read and the color scheme.

Here are things I would change if it were my site
Add a search function. Menu, Announcements and Login do not line up horizontally. Main banner text is confusing, I thought it was all one saying but its 2 different elements. I would also make the side menu continue down to fill up space...same with login on right side. I would cut it down to 1 red gradient bar type. The dark red gradient looks better with the site in whole, it needs to be trimmed back...it extends past the frame to the right. The white symbol is blurry edged while rest of site is crisp. I would remove the Time, Timezone and Birthday elements. I never put my real birthday unless it is crucial.

We use a lot of forums (Wife and I) and the pre-moderated posts system sucks. Lot of the time the mods will do a bunch of approving or deleting but not all at the same time. This leads to very common errors of not moderating the posts in order and comments that were meant for a certain post end up a page and a half away. Another common problem is that the mod is away for a weekend or whatever and not around to approve a post. Now the poster had to wait a good couple of days to get a response. While the poster is "waiting" he/she is out elsewhere searching other forums and not at your site surfing. What I do is find the most avid posters and ask them about being a mod, they usually are the more interested in keeping the boards a great place to post.

Working on getting a script for it

Yes, I know how to fix it, it's because of some code I temporarily put in comment tags, but missed part of it because if I put that part in, another part wouldn't work right.

Two different elements as in "Burning Thunder" and then "Turn on the Rock"?

As I stated earlier, I am planning on putting a search thing right below the login. I am also trying to get scripts for other stuff I am planning on putting on the left side under the navbar

What I am doing with the gradients on the sidebars is this...

Red gradient - sidebar header
Grey gradient - sidebar subheader
Space for content
Grey gradient - another sidebar subheader
space for more content
etc. etc.

Because I think it looks odd if I don't have a seperator between the pieces of content (although it looks odd right now because I only have one content thing on the left and right)

EDIT: oops, sorry, I thought you meant something else...
The smaller red gradient is from my old site, along with the header. The problem is, I can't use the smaller one from the header because it isnt thick enough and looks bad everywhere else.

Yes, I know that it does that on some screen resolutions and am in the procecss of fixing it.

This is part of phpBB3. It has this on the index page where it shows the forums so I have it here too.

This is only for ONE area, the tabs and lyrics area because we want all the stuff to be in the right format, and people don't really make replies to posts like that...Anyways, if I had it the other way I was going to do it for the tabs and lyrics, I would have to MANUALLY make them...either way, it can't get on there spontaniously (well, it can, but I won't let it Wink )

Thank you for your comments, they are very helpful and appreciated greatly.

UPDATE:

Fixed

Also created a modified style based off of the main style I made especially for people viewing the site in 940x600 or less.
