I am trying to change menus on my site so i can add more items and also make the site easier to navigate, but I am confused about which really looks better

the normal one is here http://www.damnidunno.com
and the one i am working on is here http://www.damnidunno.com/area52.php
Which do you think looks better?

The second one would be better since it seems much easier to navigate but if you choose the second one, there is an empty space in the top right which makes it look odd.

I like the second one. The colors fit the layout better, and the list is a lot more intuative than the three links on the first example.

yeah I think i'll put like headlines or something in the top empty area. like JOIN THE FORUM! or something ha. That'll be a good place for it. Or latest forum posts, arcade scores or whatever.

You can tell on the first one that I added that mail button in later on, which through the menu totally off. It's hard to add items since its all css and xhtml so i cant just add something because then all the div layers would be screwed. I put the links in a php include file and then made the whole right box into one big div layer and put the php include inside that, it'd let me add links easier. Better than editing each page when I want to change a link.

I am still learning css and it can get confusing! Way different than the basic html i've been using since 1998.

Thanks for the comment so far.

I like the first one personally. Thoguh the text is a little hard. I am a fan of how the links and stuff are uptop like that. Looks good.

I kinda like the menu on top also. so I can put the extra buttons on the side part for each page. Maybe i'll find a way to make more buttons fit and look right on top.

Why, I prefer the first one of course! It just feels less awkward to me.

I think what i should do is add an extra box going from side to side and put the menu there and make the font smaller so more links will fit on the menu. The thing about that though is that the font i use for the site is a bit hard to read when its small. I could use arial or whatever there but it'd look out of place.

I'll work it out. Suggestions are still welcomed!

I made the logo thing smaller and i think I could go ahead and keep the menu on the top. What I am wondering now is if i could have the background there cut out like the main box and side one are. I think with it not being cut out, it makes it more noticeable.
