This is neither a joke, nor a dig at Christmas.

I actually have a reason for hating Christmas.

I don't celebrate Christmas, and Christmas happens to be on 25th December.

The holidays would start in late October, and end in December, then the new school term would start in January.

For this particular reason, when Christmas arrives, it also reminds me that there is not much time for me to enjoy doing what I want anymore, and my mind would fill up with many things that I want to do at the minimum time possible, so that I can still get some remaining time to enjoy myself.

Maybe someone here feels the same as me. I don't know, but I know many people here celebrates Christmas.

I don't celebrate, but I wish everyone who does, a merry Christmas. Smile

Haha... I feel your pain, I don't celebrate Christmas and it serves only as an excuse to party. I don't really get the same feeling about the holidays nearing their end but I probably share other annoyances such as badly sung carols wherever you go with terrible music for far too many weeks prior to Christmas. The increasing commercialisation of it and, probably related, the diminishing age range for which it caters for is also disturbing.

But there are still those who have some of the spirit and have a genuine family day or what not and good for them, merry Christmas!

While I am not full of Christmas spirit and start wearing santa hats and what not. I don't see why you wouldn't enjoy it... you get lots of time off of school and you get presents.

On a side note, why don't you two celebrate Christmas?

Sure, I enjoy the holidays, just as I enjoy the winter break too (or whatever season the non christmas holiday(s) fall in for those in the northern hemisphere). I just don't really like the Christmas aspect of it. I don't celebrate it as I'm Muslim but I wouldn't really see myself celebrating it much if this wasn't the case anyways.

Getting presents is definitely good, but since we don't celebrate it, we don't get any presents.

Like krt, I'm not a Christian either.

Getting time off school? On the contrary, the holidays will be ending soon. The holidays started in November here, and now it's time to get ready for school when the new year comes.

We celebrate Christmas and I really do not have a problem with it, but I will openly admit that there are a lot of things surrounding the Christmas season itself around here that drive me a little crazy during the holiday season. When Christmas gets closer I dread the idea of going out in public and actually having to endure the slew of holiday shoppers who are supposedly doing what they can to get all their holiday gift giving done while being as rude as possible in the process. Don't get me wrong there are plenty of really nice, really wonderful people around, but I have noticed that Christmas is the time of year when people are traditionally supposed to be full of good cheer and kindness towards other people in the spirit of the holiday, but to me it seems like the Christmas season brings out the nastier side of people and that drives me up a wall. It kind of always has and I just can't get over the contradiction in people around this time of year.

I also, for some strange reason, cannot stand Christmas music. Don't get me wrong it's not that it's bad music, but when all the radio stations start to play Christmas music all the time to celebrate the season I find myself wanting nothing more than to place a CD into the CD player and tune out of the radio stations for a while. That is probably a horrible thing to say, but I just never found myself enjoying Christmas music all that much.

So as I said before I don't hate Christmas, but there are certain things around this time of year that do grate on my nerves at times. I do think that it is important to remember what means the most at this time like your family and friends, but at the same time I can see where you are coming from and I don't blame you for feeling that way at all. That being said I hope that everyone on here has a happy holiday season regardless of what holiday they are celebrating or in some cases aren't celebrating this year.

I do celebrate Christmas with my family, but I have to admit I'm starting to hate all the commercial things around Christmas. Like buying presents for every one, all kind of offers, buying way to much food to eat. Like, Christmas got to commercial, that's what I think of it.

I love Christmas Smile I usually get exited about Christmas two weeks before it's actually Christmas eve, even though I'm 19 years old I still can't wait until we can finally leave to meet the family and celebrate Christmas Smile .

I just love the unwrapping of presents and the feeling of being together, eating and laughing without any worries Smile

Merry Christmas to all of you! Very Happy

I like Christmas Smile When you go to the city centre (or downtown... whatever Americans call it) all the Christmas lights are up above the streets, which is nice especially since it gets dark so early at this time of the year. Then everyone is in a Christmas mood too, which gives the place a nice atmosphere.

Then on Christmas day I usually go to my aunt's house with all the rest of the family that live in England and I stay there all day eating lots and drinking even more (haha). I don't normally get home until the early hours of the morning after.

And on top of that I wake up next to my girlfriend on Christmas morning and it feels really good to be able to turn over and watch her slowly wake up and then give her the presents. Yes... presents because I always spend a load on my girlfriends at present-giving times Laughing And when I say girlfriends, I am talking about past ones too - I'm not a bigamist (or whatever you call someone with more than 1 girlfriend... a bastard? Laughing)

I stand with other people about the commercialization, so I won't write much about that.

coralvalley: The "nastier side" are often nerves getting frayed, I imagine. Everybody gets really stressed out over the holidays, despite it being a time that people are supposed to chill. Everybody wants to get the perfect gift and make everybody happy. Heh.

I also agree with you on the Christmas music. I work in a store and so the Christmas music starts the day after Thanksgiving and doesn't stop until January 2nd. Its just too much of the same songs again and again. I often go home and plug in my ipod and just blast music into my ears to flush out the Christmas music Very Happy

Ah yes I work in a store too... but thankfully the music in the store I work at plays a Christmas song, followed by a popular song, and then carries on this pattern throughout the day so that it doesn't seem like Christmas song overload. In fact, yesterday when I was working there were 3 P Diddy songs on...yes, I counted because it rare that any half-decent music is played.
