Who says a bot can't try more than once? I'm sure you know they excel at that with automation.

A bot can try unlimited times. However, the chance of actually getting it right is reduced when there are more CAPTCHAs (or a longer one) to be completed for a single form.
The probability isn't reduced to zero, though, and real people don't like multiple CAPTCHAs. So it is not a very good solution.

If you still want to use CAPTCHA, you may need to try something crazy that even human cannot answer XD:

okay, if you want the spammar can't harm you, just make the CAPTCHA create some false-positive and your CAPTCHA will work fine (like google)
