'Tis a short story, hope you enjoy.
It does have some cussing.
“...” Speech
He held her limp body in the pouring rain, while she slowly bled to death waiting on an EMS to arrive. The young man who stood about 6’ 1” and his short black hair that was spiked with red tips, and green eyes, looked a little mean but he was a kind caring man under the spikes, chains, and tattoo’s that lined his arm. His real name is un-known but he goes by “Blade” and the girl who was in his arm’s name was “Clover”. Clover had silky long green hair, green eyes, and her forest green dress was slowly turning red from the open cut in her stomach.
Blade sobbed that his dear Clover was slowly starting to fade away. He started mumbling under his breath about how long the EMS was taking. With that finally the EMS came and loaded Clover onto a stretcher, Blade held her tiny pale hand in his, and sat down beside her during the ride to the local hospital.
Clover’s eyes started to close and she started to wince in pain every time that she was touched where her open wound was. Seeing Clover hurt, hurt Blade even more. He couldn’t stand the thought of loosing Clover, she was always there for him, and he was always glad to see her smiling face. She needed him, but he couldn’t do anything since his powers had been stripped a few days ago in a major fight. And now he only wishes that he could have done something more to keep his powers. Blade would have to go on living life as a mortal, with out his added strength from his powers.
Clover kept breathing shallow breaths, and was near death before a blinding light covered over her and healed the wound and re-paired her dress and the blood was gone, her eyes shot open, her heart started to speed up to a normal constant rate of that of a normal breathing human being. She passed out after the light died out, yet she was still alive, Blade smiled with the blinding light. After she passed out Blade kissed her forehead and sat back down in relief that she was still alive.
With Blade’s simple kiss on the forehead she was instantly brought back into conciseness. The personnel in the back of the ambulance was surprised at all of it and didn’t know what to do at this point, since nothing has ever happened like this before. They didn’t know if they should continue to try to help her or not, or just let her be, since she seems to be healed. Later on though a bit of arguing by the personnel in the back and Blade, they agreed to take her to the hospital and let her rest for a few days and see what goes on from that point. “Stupid bastards. Do they not know what she is by seeing all of that? Or in this world do they just seem to not believe in magic, along with power? Being in a hospital will just traumatize her.” The personnel when they arrived at the hospital walked her slowly in on her stretcher, people in the hospital seemed shocked, nothing seemed to be wrong with the beautiful girl, she was wide awake, no bleeding, no torn clothing, no torn skin, no nothing. She just seemed to be, lying there. Blade walked beside her and held her hand the entire way. Clover fell asleep with Blade’s hand holding hers, and later on Blade crawled up in the bed with her. When he did he wrapped his arms around her slender waist and then fell asleep happily knowing Clover was fine for now at least.
The next morning Clover woke up with the first few rays of light from the sun, she got up slowly from Blade’s gentle grasp and walked to the window, crawling up into the windowsill, resting her head on the window looking out into the distance, softly singing a tune. *
“They say mother earth is breathing
With each wave that finds the shore
Her soul rises in the evening
For to open twilights door
Her eyes are the stars in heaven
Watching o'er us all the while
And her heart it is in Ireland
Deep within the Emerald Isle…”
When she finished the last line Blade joined in singing where she left off. While singing he walked over to her.
“We are forty against hundreds
In someone else's bloody war
We know not why were fighting
Or what we're dying for
They will storm us in the morning
When the sunlight turns to sky
Death is waiting for its dance now
Fate has sentenced us to die…”
Clover picked up where he left off and they continued trading off.
“Ireland I am coming home
I can see your rolling fields of green
And fences made of stone
I am reaching out won't you take my hand
I'm coming home Ireland”
“Oh the captain he lay bleeding
I can hear him calling me
These men are yours now for the leading
Show them to their destiny
As I look up all around me
I see the ragged tired and torn
I tell them to make ready
'Cause we're not waiting for the morn”
“Ireland I am coming home
I can see your rolling fields of green
And fences made of stone
I am reaching out won't you take my hand
I'm coming home Ireland”
“Now the fog is deep and heavy
As we forge the dark and fear
We can hear their horses breathing
As in silence we draw near
There are no words to be spoken
Just a look to say good-bye I draw a breath and night is broken
As I scream our battle cry”
“Ireland I am coming home
I can see your rolling fields of green
And fences made of stone
I am reaching out won't you take my hand
I'm coming home Ireland
Yes I am home Ireland”
Together, they sang the last line. “We were forty against hundreds”
Clover missed her home Ireland, dearly. But she never wanted to show it to Blade because she knew that he’d do anything to get her there, she’d take her self back home but she didn’t have the power to do so. So every day she just sang the song, not meaning for Blade to join her, though he did, she thought their voices together made a nice little harmony. “I wish I’d get back to you soon, my dear Ireland.” Blade turned to see her eyes to see some sort of expression, noticing a tiny tear form he wiped it away.
“You miss home don’t you?”
Clover nodded.
“Sweetie, I promise I’ll get you back home as soon as possible.”
Clover nodded again, knowing it wasn’t an empty promise, she knew that he’d try his best to get her there.
“Truth is Blade, I’ve missed it from the very second I left, I can’t stand being so far from it. I don’t even know really where the hell we are right now… But I do know one thing, that we aren’t in Ireland.” She said in her faint Irish accent that has been fading for quite some time now.
“I promise Clover. I promise I’ll get you there soon.”
“How? You’ve lost your powers.”
“Like a normal human… A plane or ship.”
Clover looked a bit confused when he mentioned doing something like a normal human.
“A plane goes into the sky, and the ship goes across water.”
“But what about you, you’d have no where to go…You know my parents wouldn’t let you stay at my house, you know that, don’t you?”
“Yes…After I get you back home to Ireland I’ll leave you and go and try to survive on my own.”
“Why though? I love you.” She cupped her hand over her mouth after finishing that statement since they’d both taken a vow to never admit to each other they love each other no matter how strong emotions get into the relationship.
Blade, shocked at this statement of love said the same to her, because really he did, but he couldn’t admit it before hand.
“Just, because, it’s not safe, so if anyone gets hurt I’d rather it be me.”
“Blade! Please, you’ll die at that point.”
“But I’d rather get hurt or die than see you get hurt like you did last night.”
“I was fine, and I still am. So please…I’ve waited this long to go back to Ireland, I think I can wait longer.”
“Clover, you can’t just forget about what you want, I’m going to get you back to Ireland, even if it kills me.”
“BLADE!”
“Yes?”
“Why do you keep saying these things? I’ll wait to go back to Ireland.”
“Not for much longer you won’t be waiting.”
With that they both stopped talking. Clover longed to say something else, but she figured it be better if she didn’t. “I really wish he’d stop caring so much…I can wait, really I can.”
After Clover got out of the windowsill, the doctor came in and told her she was free to go home. Clover got her stuff ready to go, and Blade held her hand while they walked out, Blade thought up a plan to how he could get Clover to Ireland and he still be safe…Clover just had to be willing to do it.
Once they got in their apartment Blade talked over the plan with Clover, she agreed but she didn’t want to part with Blade, he’d assured her that he’d be safe. So the next morning they’d be going to start the plan. Since they had a big day in front of them tomorrow they just went to bed.
Morning arose and they both got up at the crack of dawn, and Blade drove them to the airport, and paid for two airline tickets for the 10:30 AM flight to Dublin, Ireland. To pass the time they wandered around the terminal for a few hours also getting their passports, until the intercom called their flight number, they went though all the security checks, and boarded the plane in the coach section Isle ten, seats 3 and 4. Clover was a bit nervous since she’d never had been on a plane before; she was also excited to be finally returning home to Ireland. Clover fell asleep on the way there and had her head on Blade’s shoulder for most of the ride there. Blade stroked her soft silky green hair while she slept, when the plane was near landing on the run-way in Dublin, they had to do an emergency evacuation due to they hit something, they aren’t sure what it was but they needed to evacuate. Blade gently shook Clover’s shoulder to wake her up and tell her, she followed close behind him while they quickly evacuated the plane.
Clover stood scared clinging to Blade dearly, she was finally home in Ireland but she didn’t know what to do, she didn’t know to cry, smile, or do whatever else so she just clung to Blade. Blade held her closely, and enjoyed her being so close to him now.
Author’s note: The song they sing is called “Ireland” by Garth Brooks, also, the names are old nicknames of a friend’s and mine, I was Blade she was Clover.
