|
|
I have two computers on the same network and mine which runs Kubuntu, is hooked up to the printer. (Model: HP PSC 1315 Series) The other computer runs Windows XP, I don't really let people on my computer and it is locked with a password, so is there some way I can set up a printer on the Windows computer that will be able to print on the printer currently hooked up to mine. (running Linux) _________________ Tutorial Management Script - Version 1.4 Released

Does your printer have an ethernet card in it? Or any kind of network card? _________________ Rashy! |

Check out this article, it might be helpful:
http://tldp.org/HOWTO/SMB-HOWTO-9.html
I had some trouble getting a Samba server to work myself, but this was over a school network and not my home network, so you might have better luck (such as they might have just been blocking SMB traffic to non-school computers).
If that doesn't work, you could try attach the printer to your XP machine.

Since you don't have a network-printer, whichever computer has the printer attached to it must be turned on when you try and print from the other computer. Good luck, and feel free to ask more questions, I might be able to help out with more specific problems _________________ Rashy! |

I'll also see if I can help. I currently have that setup with a non-networked printer on the Ubuntu computer using Samba. Fairly simple, and Windows computers access it as normal, \\computer_name\printer_name _________________
