I am in this book a little over 100 pages..
Wow...What a fascinating book.!!
I get a real kick from the experts from Celsus ( An eclectic Platonist and polemical writer against Christianity, who flourished towards the end of the second century.) as he makes fun of the literalist Christians for taking the idea that scripture were all true facts...
This book also helped me to see what the Gnostic's were all about as well...
Also it does explain well where so much of the Christian origins were already a part of Pagan lore...
I found also that a couple of early church fathers such as Origen had a good grasp of what this christian thing was supposed to be about, but of course the Roman church kicked him out as a heretic..
Anyone else read this book?,,if so what are your thoughts??
ps: I think it belongs here but it could belong in the oratory. |
