| I never got mine wet but i have problems with charging my laptop. It only charges in a certain position and now its getting harder to charge (to find that spot where it charges). Basically i think we are both having problems with the charger unit in the laptop. Because when i use a different charger, it still has the same problem |

you are lucky to have laptop still working except for a few keys on ya keyboard. you probably could have save ya faulty keyboard, if you have tear the laptop apart and use a hair dryer and blow dry all the wet components. hopefully, there's no more water inside, otherwise, there could be more problems coming. good luck to you |

He could have got his laptop wet for a long time already, and the water may have already damaged the hardware.
If it's still in warranty, just try your luck at the service centre. _________________ 3.14159265358979323846264338327950288419716

| This may be a bit late, but if you're still having problems, you'll probably need to replace the keyboard, which generally isn't too expensive. Not sure what you can do about the battery and power and stuff. |

Well, I'm no expert in laptops, but at that point you may have to replace the battery. That would be the best bet for that problem, and if that doesn't fix the battery problem, then there is something else wrong, obviously.
The keyboard may be due to the connector under it. You may want to try to take the keyboard off and clean the connector with an alcohol/water mixture and let it dry thoroughly. If that doesn't help, assuming you've already tried just cleaning the keyboard, you may have worse problems.
At this point, if it is under warranty, do that first. If not, clean what you can safely, and if that doesn't work, consult someone with an actual knowledge. _________________

I got my laptop back and they replaced the planar card. It is working now. Apparently the planar card deals with the keyboard, charging the battery, and the ethernet adapter. _________________ Daman371Designs

Never heard of such a thing, but I'm glad it's working again. Thanks for the info! _________________

Glad to hear everything is fixed now, but for next time keep this in mind:
When your laptop, or any electronic equipment, gets wet, do NOT turn it on or plug it in. This is more for the sake of inflicting damage to the hardware more than for the sake of protecting you from getting electrocuted, though that can be a problem as well.
When water gets in, you should leave the device alone for at least 24 hours, possibly 48 hours depending on how wet it got. If it was clean water, all should be good after everything evaporates and goes away. If it was dirty water, then you may have more issues on your hands, as all the sediments that went in with the water are now left in the gadget, stuck to your components.. They may make things get hotter really fast in there, causing it to overheat. _________________ Come visit Shattered Abstracts! (Photoblog!) |

| Also, to prevent this from happening again, I recommend putting something under the bag and covering the laptop. I ride so I carry a light jacket so I tuck that under and/or use a PostPak or something to cover it. If you are asking why PostPaks of all things, it is because they are cheap, reasonable durable, they protect against bumps and shocks (doesn't have to apply to just riding). Also, many people (including thieves) don't expect laptops in them! |

| Probably shouldn't have used the specific name for it. Anything from your post office that fits and has some padding should be fine. |
