The problem of computer viruses mainly just come down to the user, if you use Windows with common sense and realize that web pages can't scan your computer for viruses and that you need to download software from that page because it says you have one, than viruses will not be an issue for you. The opposite can also apply for Mac or Linux, if you had a moron using it and someone had written a virus, the operating system can't help you if you don't have common sense.
Of course there are other factors such as Windows mostly always been running as an administrator or how fast you could install one (just a double click) without even thinking about it. _________________ TutorialToday |

I can understand why someone would prefer Mac over Windows. The OS is just better by design (not just aesthetically speaking). The fact that it is more secure can not only be attributed to its lower market share; it's also because of its Unix-like architecture which strictly separate user activities from 'core' activities.
Besides, there are many high quality applications being made for the Mac right now. Some of them are open-source or free, others rather cheap. Programmers are also slowly migrating to Mac, this will certainly boost software development for Apple's OS.
Today I see Apple products showcased on the main floors of Dutch warehouses; something which I would find hard to imagine in the pre-iPhone era.
My younger sister, who has little technical computer knowledge, has been using Windows her entire life and now suddenly decided she wants to have a Mac when she gets her own computer.
Considering my own observations I would say the Mac computer is moving away from a niche market to the mainstream. Microsoft beware! _________________ If you can read this, my post is on an alternating background. |

Kinda ironic dont' you think for a company who attacks the other one. |

Companies attacking each other is simply a poor display of marketting. If they can't get their product to the people without, well then you have to start wondering about the quality of said product. _________________ Dilly dally, shilly shally. |

Are you talking about Mac, the operating system or the machine, or Apple, the company that develops/manufactures this product?
The ads are indeed hurting Apple's popularity, but I can also find no mention of an angry letter about this. I can vaguely remember reading something about it, though, just not sure where and whether you are talking about the same letter.
Anyway, both Apple and Microsoft are evil companies. _________________ If you can read this, my post is on an alternating background. |
