|
|
I was using my old desktop and I decided to visit LifelessPeople.com out of boredom. So I went to LifelessPeople.com.
I only see the Website of the Month. Nothing else! Except the links at the left, and on the top.
I feel that this is extremely bad and it should at the least include some links, like linking to the Knowledge Base and giving a short introduction.
If I was someone who just found this site, I would think this site just started and it doesn't provide much info. I wouldn't even know how to sign up for the hosting, and would think everything is fake, yet everything lies in the forum.
Hope to see something up on the front page. I am not asking for much, just a few simple introduction like on how to start getting hosting or so. _________________ 3.14159265358979323846264338327950288419716

Or at least a pointer to the quick links as the main content is the one that gets attention. I agree with you, the site doesn't really give the impression of the best free web hosting provider |

Maybe...
It does have a side effect though, the format of the home page probably stops "forum noobs". Also, the lack of advertising besides word of mouth contributes to that as well. |

I agree. The only part that is useful to new visitors is the quick links bar.
I believe this has been (or is) a task on the Content Development Team list, but I'll have to check. There is enough room for improvement either way. _________________ Captain Jell-O Buster from the Future

The front page now redirects to l2p.mobi for mobile users and the forum here for normal web browsers.
I agree that the front page was largely wasted space as the forum is the primary content of the website. _________________ * Knowledge Base * Wiki * Forum FAQs * |

I agree that the front page was largely wasted space as the forum is the primary content of the website. | Thanks Trel for replying to this matter.
But I don't think redirecting to the forum is enough. You should add a link to the Knowledge Base or a all-in-one beginner's guide KB article, containing all information a beginner needs to start at L2P.
You could make that available only to people who are not logged in. _________________ 3.14159265358979323846264338327950288419716

I don't think redirecting the front page to a document like that would be a very good idea. It would be an annoyance for those that are members, but just aren't logged in.
An introduction document that people will read before signing up for the forum might be a good alternative. _________________ * Knowledge Base * Wiki * Forum FAQs * |

An introduction document that people will read before signing up for the forum might be a good alternative. | But it's the introduction which will lead someone to sign up for the hosting.
I wouldn't really sign up or consider to for something which I don't even know what it offers, because it may not offer what I want.
I agree that redirecting it to such a document is not a good idea, but we need something which can get the attention of people who are interested, so we can link them to somewhere where there are lots of info. _________________ 3.14159265358979323846264338327950288419716

On some other forums, I have seen message boxes that appear above the forum categories. Maybe we should get something like that set up.
e.g. http://techhooked.com/forum/ |

| Navigation is an issue on L2P. Yes it is. And links to important pages are not exactly how they should be. But you cant fault trel for this. He has to work real hard to keep it running and its better not to waste that time in small issues as this and rather invest that time in the beter upkeep of the servers. |
