I like the idea of reworking the template, but for the most part the website and forum theme match. Smile

Remember that a major overhaul of the website's theme will require massive amounts of effort and not just changing a single page.

I guess as a team we would be able to make matching XHTML pages and forum skin that integrate well, but perhaps it would be best to design the skins around a new logo, to give us an idea of which colors to work with in the skins, but also not limit the person who designs the logo, which would be the case if the skins were made first.

Unfortunately the cPanel skin, status page, and so on are all specialized things that require knowledge that goes beyond just web design.

With that said. I am definitely open to the idea if there is enough community interest. Smile

I'd choose a more colorful, attractive color scheme. This one is getting dull and boring really. I think we need to become more attractive to get this place rolling again.

What Lifelesspeople should appeal to is teenagers and younger. Most adults can afford their own web hosting and don't have much time to post on a forum all day anyways. (i just have no life).

If the template is reorganized, it wouldn't take much to change the status page. Changing the template wouldn't affect the cPanel skin either.

If there is going to be a template rehaul, I think the forum theme should be built on phpBB3 as well so when it is released, all the work for this forum won't be wasted.

The layout of the pages other than the forum (and things like cPanel) could use some reorganisation. This should take much work.
But, at the moment, you'll probably want to leave the colourscheme, logo and overall theme of the site as it is (because modifying cpanel, for instance, to fit the new theme is going to be a lot of complicated work).

NO! I definitely don't support changing of forum's template. Even if you want to make some changes, retain this one, like having both styles available.

This forum template is one of the best phpBB templates I have ever seen, to be honest. Besides that, it totally represents LifelessPeople.

Well, I agree with the above. The current template is good looking but lacks color. Although I tend to use gray, colorless designs myself, I would like a little variation very much myself. But a good looking professional design itself is a very complicated thing to work out. With this in mind, despite the fact that members willingly want to participate in the process, I don't think it's possible/easy for us as a group to come to a consensius about this.

It's a good thing to partly have a company run as customer2customer, but I wouldn't take it as far as the customers forming or creating the image, services, etc.

A suggestion towards the initiative though: Many sites have one color which the company/site identifies itself with. For example: http://www.macvidia.com/ . Lifelesspeople.com already has a color like that: orange. How about working out a template with a little more shade/light effects with main colors gray and orange? That way the cpanel-template and other hard-modifyable template wouldn't necessarily need to be changed (or could be delayed till there's time/budget for it).

I will agree with Jacky. It is possible to put News/Home/About if not in one but in two sections for sure. When I join a new web site first question is what is this web site about and I want to read about it right away. Anyways thats just my thought. Also usually index pages contain News so you put that instead of "Linky Goodness..."

About the theme. I like it. I don't know why but I like how simple and professional it is. Silly

Well I still think LLP should be made over to look like a professional host company, even if the packages it supplies are free. A previous free host I was at did this and even reskinned the forums and came up with a new logo - the full works - and it only took about 4 members 2 weeks to do it all. Of course, I think that gave the host ideas because then they soon after changed to paid hosting... and the members who helped got a year of free hosting Evil or Very Mad

I think it should look better than a pro hosting company. Most of them all use the same template. I think llp should just be more stylish and attractive to teens since they are the ones mostly who use the hosting. Very Happy

These dull colors really turn people away in my opinion.

I think the current template is simple yet professional. What is lacking is some information at the home page. Wink
