Bellamy is a good player, always has been, and hit his peak 2 years ago, just went on and on from there in terms of form.

Kuyt is a decent signing, what Liverpool need. I'd question whether it was money well spent, 10 or 11 million is a big risk for a player who hasnt cut it at International level, gets 20 a season in a poor league, lost his place to a new star Klaas Jan Huntelaar, but Kuyt works hard, i can see him being one of those players who works hard but just falls short of the quality barrier in the Premiership. Having said that 11m isnt that much of a risk for Liverpool, Crouch does a strange but effective job, Fowler isnt anywhere near what he was but he can still pop up with a goal or two and Bellamy is a class act so even if Kuyt fails or does not perform how they want then there is a fall back for them.

I am currently watching Liverpool in The Champions League Qualifier, and although they look comfortable, they also look decidedly worrying at the back. Should they lose by a margin of a single goal to nil, they will be eliminated, leaving only Chelsea, Manchester United and Arsenal to fly the flag for England.

At the of posting this message, the score is nil - nil, so Liverpool would go through, and in real terms, any away goal should secure the tie.

The draw is made on Thursday, and I for one, rather hope Liverpool will be in the mix.

Looks like a win for Liverpool on aggregate.
A score of one each on the night makes it three / two to Liverpool over Israeli side Maccabi Haifa. Off the a good start in the Champions League to get them into the group stage. A significant improvement after the poor show they put on against Sheffield United on the first day of the new Premiership season, especially considering, what in my opinion, was a dubious peanalty in the first place,

Not a convincing win by any means was it, but it will do.

I haven't seen the game but as some have said, we looked worrying at the back and lacked any real flare up front.

We need to keep tight, and the loss of Jamie Carragher didn't really do us much good either.

With John Arne Riise also injured and now Momo Sissoko and Stephen Warnock injured in the qualifier, it's not looking too great. They are only minor injuries but we will miss especially Carragher for the next few games.

Looking forward to the draw and hoping for a good group.

I can't really say much, at least Liverpool are in the Chamions League, not like Newcastle in the Mickey Mouse...., I mean Uefa Cup. We'll have to see how they do against each other in the Premiership, which incidently would have been tonight! I won't be able to stand it if Craig Bellamy scores, he won't get the nicest reception from the Toon fans, even if it was planned for Anfield!

So it's Group 6 for Liverpool this year.

The group in full is:

Liverpool FC
PSV Eindhoven
Galatasaray
Bordeaux

Not a bad little group to be honest. Far easier than Chelsea's which is always good to see.

My main worry would probably be PSV mind you Galatasaray haven't been too awful before.

Tomorrow's game is V West Ham United at home, 12:45 kick off. I am hopeful of three points in this game but don't quote me on that. West Ham are never an easy side to play against.

Once again Liverpool managed to sneak a win!

That looks a very tough group Liverpool have this year. It's very likely you won't make it through the first stages

Something of a shock at Goodison Park, home of Everton this afternoon, when they turned over Liverpool by three goals to nil. It was their biggest derby day win in something like fourty years, and their biggest at Goodison Park in something like ninety years.

From what I saw, the result, and the general play really does not bode well for the forthcoming Champions League fixtures, due to be played this week.

One or two dodgy decisions by the officials, but some absolutely attrocious defensive play from Liverpool led to their downfall, and handing over the Merseyside bragging rights for a few months. Jamie Carragher with a howler to allow Andrew Johnson to slot in goal number two, and an even worse blooper from goalkeeper Pepe Reyna for goal three, where he attempted to puch the ball as opposed to catching it, spooned the ball upwards and backwards allowing Andrew Johnson a simple header late into injury time.

In the post match interviews, Liverpool Manager Rafael Benitez was less than happy to say the very least.

Due to the wonders of live streaming I managed to watch the Liverpool game this afternoon.
Liverpool were unlucky not to get a goal in my opinion. Jon Arne Riise picked up an injury towards the end. Not sure the extent of the injury as of yet. But it looked pretty serious.

Everton's third goal was in injury time and was yet another howler from the Liverpool keeper. He reminds me of David James and Grobbelar. Both world class keepers, but always making first class howlers. Well worth watching this on match of the day, just for that mistake from Reina

Did you not see the game on Pay Per View, West_Ham_Hammer? From a neutral point of view, it was compulsive viewing, and I have to agree about the howler from Pepe Reyna. What was he trying to do?

Match Of The Day is always worth a viewing, it is a tradition!

SE13 I don't subscribe to Pay per view. However I do subscribe to a live internet streaming service.
This afternoon I have watched all the Liverpool v Everton match. The first half of the Arsenal v Boro game. And now I am watching the Second half of the Newcastle v Fulham game. Can't get that on pay per view!!!

If only I knew how you do this streaming lark!!!!

Anyway, quite a shocking result for Liverpool, but from what I have seen on match of the day, it was all going Evertons way anyway. No matter how many shots Liverpool tried, they just could not get the ball into the back of the net, some great shots by the likes of Steven Gerrard just would not go on target. I just hope that Liverpool play like that when Newcastle play their game in hand against them at Anfield!

I just hope Liverpool play without this lack of success in front of goal when they face Arsenal, as we are in the same predicament!

Without the fortune of a penalty yesterday, Arsenal could not even buy a goal, and it would appear much the same for Liverpool, on reflection after the game yesterday.

Incidentally, the streams are easy to find, many many places do them, but it is so much easier on the pay per view channels. I bought a season ticket at the back end of last year for fifty English pounds, which equates to a mere pound per game. You can not go too far wrong with a deal like that, for sure.

Absolutely gutting. I am horrified with the result, especially seeing as it was against Everton, that is the biggest kick in the teeth.

I personally think we should have started with Kuyt instead of Fowler and that Bellamy should at least have been on the bench. He can add pace and strength to the forward partnership and I think that would have been just what we needed.

Saying that, we had various opportunites in which we could have scored but at the end of the day it went down to some shocking defending.

Reina made a mistake in the third goal, but I could see what he was trying to do, mind you, it didn't really work and he should have been able to at least keep it away from Johnson.

I'm just going to forget that game now and focus on the Champion's League Group Game 1 tomorrow night, in which we really need to get a result from if we have any chance of qualifying. I would again, like to see Rafa start with Kuyt/Crouch/Bellamy, any two of the three, I would like to see Bellamy and Kuyt play together as well, to see how they get on.

We are without Riise due to the injury he picked up on Saturday, and we will be without him for the Chelsea game at the weekend as well, which leaves the door open for Aurelio to show us what he is made of at left back.

I would also like to see Gonzalez on the left again and Pennant on the right, possibly leaving Sissoko on the bench for a game. I know Gerrard does pretty well on the right hand side but he was consistant in the centre of the park last season and I would love to see him play there again.

And West_Ham_Hammer, I don't think we have a difficult group, we have some big, well known names in there, but it's nothing major!!

One thing is for absolute certain, Liverpool will have to pick themselves up, shake the dust off, and knuckle down to business for tonights Champions League group game.

Has there been any likely teams in the gossip departments as yet?
