Load Javascript Before Images?

I am working with a pretty heavy javascript site, and for some reason, even though my javascript links are near the top of my document, they don't seem to initialize until after my images are loaded. So if somebody clicks on a image before all the images are done, it pops up into the same window instead of using the javascript lightbox. The site in question is here:
