Whenever I use WiseFTP and Firefox simultaneously, my computer shuts down with any message what so ever. I disabled auto restart to check for bluescreens, and the same thing happened.

There are several possible options. Judging from your setup I see the most likely thing happening is that something draws too much power and forces the PSU to shut down. Does your computer shut down when you run a high end game and a few programs in the background?
Another option is simply a conflict between firefox and wiseftp.

The main problem might be the Vista, change you OS to XP would help.

Solidraven: I've ran several high end games, Firefox, GIMP, and Nvu all simultaneously with no issues.

Kenoodo: That's a knee-jerk anti-vista reaction. If it was an OS issue I would have gotten a blue screen. Vista actually great. The only reason people don't like it is because of idiots who say "What do you mean my low-end 5 year old computer can't run a high end OS?"

I just discovered the FF is a coincidence. It's just Wise-FTP that causes it.

I'll try another FTP program and see what happens.

EDIT: Filezilla works great. It's faster too.

Well, the fact that the system shuts down means that there has been an error on the OS level. This error could be triggered by Wise-FTP, though, which doesn't make it a Vista problem.
Anyway, blue screens have been disabled since Windows XP, so you are unlikely to see one in Vista, ever.

No, the shut down means its either an OS error or a hardware problem. It's clearly Wise-FTP because Filezilla works fine.

Bluescreens have not been disabled. I got a couple last week on Vista, it turned out to be triggered by Rhapsody.

Actually under certain conditions blue screen like messages are possible on vista. I had one when I was trying it out. It didn't like me trying to force the server 2003 for the sound card Silly

I looked it up and it is indeed true that blue screens are possible again under Vista. XP would simply shut down or hang on such occasions.

They actually have a BlueScreen object built into error handling as well. Can be seen on debug reports.

A shut down with no error is more likely a hardware problem than an OS problem. If Windows is dying for some reason, it should bring up an error. Try checking the Event Viewer to see what exactly is happening right before the computer shuts off.

I've actually seen blue screens in windows XP too. I'm not sure why, but sometime the system suddenly restarts which seems to be caused by an error, and sometimes it brings up a blue screen.

That's a hardware error.
