It's cute, though not something spectacular. Has a cheery retro sort of feel to it. Did you make it for something specific? Is it supposed to be a sig?

It's quite interesting to say the least. I like how it looks, and it makes me smile. However you have some reading issues with colors on top of each other. If you were to take that layer and add a drop shadow, or something similar to your text, it would render it more readable, even if ti did cross with the same color somewhere.

Also, off of the topic at hand, but it hurts me to see someone call a Myspace profile dealing with layouts, a Layout site. It's kind of offensive. I've seen true "layout sites" and they aren't exactly Myspace. Myspace isn't a personal web host, it's a social network. Silly Still, keep it real, and I can't wait to see more works done by ya.

I like it. I think you need to change up the colors a little on the text cause it blends in with the stripes so it is a little hard to read.

No excuse! Silly Still, all I'm saying is that Myspace is in no way equivalent to a Layout Site. It's a social profile for the use and spreading of web design. Silly I'm just picky when it comes to that. Silly

It seems very novice, but considering your age I won't be that harsh Smile.

One of the largest problems with this that I have is the background. It is somewhat blurry and pixelated as compared to the main photograph which is strange. Either make it more blurry or pixelized or get/make a cleaner image to suit the quality of the photograph. Which also makes me think about the photograph. It seems like the levels are too grey, there isn't a pure black or pure white, which is very bad in photography. Try using the auto levels to fix this. The type "Freakazoid" gets lost in the background which other people have mentioned so I won't go into that. Otherwise the composition is very good, except maybe a little tense in the one tiny little area of color above your head, but I think it might actually work better with it. That's my in-depth critique on it.

that's good, its cute (including the lady in the picture). but like what others said... color blending issues. regardless, since you know stuff about using varieties of colors and using photoshop... my advice is don't stop learning and experimenting. And be proud of what you do, or what came out of you messing around with colours.

Have you ever stared on a oil-based paintings done using pallet knives before? Something like this... Last Tuesday I was in the clinic staring at something similar to this painting on the wall. And I wondered, how crazy can it get to mix and match these varieties of colors, fine arts people are really crazy and weird... i soon realized. Especially the ones that make out something out of abstract images and colors. You know why they are proud of their works... it's because nobody in the world can make an exact copy of what they have done. "This is my art..." as what they usually emphasize.

what you made now is great. each of us knows that feeling of making something great the first time we set foot on something. But keep in mind that once we set our feet on something we don't just stand there, we have to keep walking. Greatness is not about standing on a pedestal, its about walking to the foot paths leading to the pedestal.

It's not simple to say that you can just "poof" i'm-on-a-pedestal thing just like that... We have to earn it. And since you set your foot in a path of becoming great graphic image designers, keep walking and enjoy your journey.

There's lot of more thing you can do with Photoshop, don't be afraid trying every possible buttons and effects, mixing and matching, shading and contrasting, adding more effects to another layers of effects. Memorizing it won't be a problem to you. Unaware of it, you will somehow grow natural from it.

Off-Topic
I agree with Moose, and the resentment issues related to those bunch of profile-based websites like Myspace, flickr, whatever. I have friends actually designing their profiles in person, and told me the same thing like that, and i told them the same resentment moose had. That's because in those forms of websites, you don't actually control the layout and design than having your own design from scratch. What can only be controlled in those websites are the CSS and other HTML attribute tags. Once you become a web designer, you embed to your mind the basic essence of webdesign-and-layout... which is "full control"....

I like that you added a lot of color to it to make it stand out and I will say that you are off to a nice start on it. I think that since you mentioned that you did it really quickly that clearly you were not necessarily taking the time to get into the smaller details that take an image from great to extraordinary. I think that the colors you used are a nice eye catcher and I like that. I am not really sold on the outline you have around your model (the girl in the image). I know a lot of layouts are like that however and they like that sort of choppy look of an outline, but that is not really my taste. That is not saying that it was bad because it is far from being bad, but it just seems a bit novice to me. Of course as I mentioned before I have seen a lot of layouts on various web sites with web designers who have done the very same technique with their graphics and they are extremely experienced, very talented graphic artists, so perhaps that goes into my own personal preference about the outline. Other than that I think it looks pretty decent over all. I will say that again the text kind of gets lost in the background of the image. I am not really sure if that was the intention when you created the graphic or not, but if it was not your intention, you might want to do something like add a border or a shadow or something to the text to make it stand out a bit more. The last three letters seem to get a bit lost in the background and make it hard to read, which might be a problem if you are trying to advertise that it was your handiwork. You do not want your text to get lost in the background like that unless it was intentional. Other than that I think you did a good job with it over all and I look forward to seeing more of your graphic work on here. Thanks for posting it.

After Mr.Fraud rather large and somewhat frightening explanation, I think I'm just going to keep to the first feeling I had when I looked at it:
WOAAH, CUTENESS ALL OVER THE PLACE ! Since when do we have these kind of people on the forum? Razz
*hum*
Wondering how you handled the stripes.

Awesome picture. I like the colors of the stripes and the outline around the black and white picture gives it a cut-out effect, very cool. Wink

I love the way that you have used only a small amount of colour.

The black and white makes it very cool Very Happy

Back to the eighties !! I like it !!

Is innocent and cute as they told you, I think that you wanted to show this on your work so your job is done, and that´s the most important part of it =D.

With time you will discover some things on photoshop that will help you to improve your work, try working with some brushes and play a bit with ctrl+u or some image adujstments.

Congratulations and keep the good work!

Raymon
