For some reason one of my PS1 games has decided that it doesn't want to run correctly on my PS2. The graphics on it have started to appear funny,
It never used to do it, only reciently. Could the CD be wearing out or could it be my PS2? The game works fine on my PS1 (except the PS1 doesn't detect when i change disks) _________________ Midnight Tempest - A Sailor Moon TCG

Give a little more detail about what exatly is happening in terms of graphics, are they blurry, are they glitchy? Most likely it is your PS2 considering if it was the disk it loads in chucks, and if it was damaged, it would just be skipping/freezing. If the graphics are physically changing or looking corrupt then the video renderer in your PS2 is probably broken/in need of repair. How do your PS2 games look when played?
Giving that it works fine on your Playstation, that most definately means it is your PS2. If your PS2 games do run fine, then it is just the emulating renderer that makes the PS2 able to play and render original Playstation games. I'm no expert on the subject of how it works, but that's probably the only logical explanation. _________________ The Gamer's Journal | Online Portfolio | Half-Life Library |

They appear as though their corrupt. Sometimes i get multiple icons around the actual icon, some of them green, some purple, or flickering between the acutal colour, green and purple. But its only some of the graphics, like the courser and icons. The actual videos and background appear fine.
PS2 games and other PS1 games play fine, its just this one.
Its happening on X Files PS1 game. All other games i've played reciently on there have worked fine (Wipe Out 3 (PS1) X Files Resist or Serve (PS2) Final Fantasy 10/10-2 (PS2))
I've managed to check disks 1 and 4 since i have saves on both disks, and both disks do the same thing, so i'd think 2 and 3 do it as well _________________ Midnight Tempest - A Sailor Moon TCG

Certain PS1 games just don't work well on a PS2.
I remember an old race game I had for PS1 (sold it in the meanwhile) would lag on a PS2. You could actually count the framerate. _________________

My guess is that the disk is busted If you're playstation still plays other games as he should, then I don't see what else could be the problem. _________________ .// Proud to be Lifeless for more then 4 years \\. |

Maybe you should call customer support (who knows, they might actually be able to help you ) because I don't think anyone here at llp will know what's wrong... _________________ .// Proud to be Lifeless for more then 4 years \\. |

Well i wouldn't suggest buying one since your replacing your PS2, but try using a CD cleaner if you have one on hand, to clean the inside of your PS2. That might help, although it does seem strange that this only happened now, and not before, and only to this game. But possibly, as previously stated it could be that really it just is this one game thats having problems. If you don't mind playing on your computer, and you possibly have a game controller with adapter for computer, you could always get a PS1 emulator, and put the game in your computer to play off of there.
Hope that's helpful. |
