in 2009 everyone who doesn't have cable, satellite nor digital tv's, will have to get a digital converter box to continue watching the few shows they get on their analog tv's. I am one of them. I live out in the country where cable tv doesn't reach, and satellite is way too expensive. So i rely on my antenna.
So i have some questions that I hope someone will be able to answer.
I must say though that I think this move is great because as i read you will get a much better reception and picture quality with the digital converters and such. It's hard getting a godo clean reception on my cheap antenna and I always have to go mess with it. So i'm going to enjoy this change.
I am planning on going ahead and getting the digital converter box this week so i can have that all taken care of. they are only $40 and you can get 2 coupons for each household so if you ever since those in you actually will end up not paying very much at all. even so $40 isnt much.
Now my questions are, well i suppose its only one question. will I need a digital antenna also? I found a nice HD Digital antenna at walmart.com for only $39 which isn't bad. But will i still be able to get a pretty good reception with my regular old antenna along with the digital converter box?
if so i'll wait for a few more weeks and get them both at the same time.
anyone know? thanks _________________ http://www.damnidunno.com |

Since you're using bunny ears, you will need the antenna.
A Converter box works directly from the signal. So, if you are in a home that has a rooftop antenna, all you would need is the box (because a rooftop antenna is not an analog antenna, but rather a broadcast antenna).
But since you're just using bunny ears, you will need a separate antenna, since the ears are simply analog and you need some sort of receiver to pick up the digital signal. |

Yeah i have one of t hem big roof antenna's. So it'll most likely work.
I think that digital antenna thing i saw was mostly just to pick up a better HD signal, but since I don't have a HDTV, there is no reason to get it.
I wonder how many channels I'll be able to pick up and how clear they'll be already?
I was reading something about the digital broadcast and how the networks will be able to offer more channels and such per the one signals or whatever, which will be really cool.
I miss my cable. I'm tryin to move back to the city so i'll have my cable and all of this will be irrelevant.
